The document appears to be the contents section of the Payment of Bonus Act of 1965 in India. It lists 31 sections that relate to short title and extent, definitions, computation of gross profits and available surplus, eligibility for bonus payments, penalties for non-compliance, and other administrative details for implementing bonus payments for employees as required by the Act.
Talk by Charles Goran, T-Mobile, given at Device Design Day 2011 hosted by Kicker Studio.
How to revitalize a product that has brand loyalty but has lost its luster. With ever changing brand and device positioning strategies, we are often faced with the task of product reinvention or evolution. We will discuss strategies to evolve a product experience so that it builds on existing equities, while scaling to accommodate new goals.
The document discusses how design can communicate as much information as text through visuals alone. It quotes Saul Bass, a graphic designer, saying "design is thinking made visual". The document then transitions to discussing human dreams.

Outsourcing some jobs to India will save Verizon $2.2 million per year in overhead costs by taking advantage of higher educated but lower paid colleagues in India, but it may also reduce jobs in the United States and create cultural and language barriers that could frustrate communication.
This document discusses the risks of heart disease for busy executives and promotes regular walking as a simple way to reduce risks. Heart disease is the number one killer of executives, caused by stress, smoking, poor diet and lack of exercise. The document recommends starting a daily routine of 20 minutes of brisk walking ("Chale Chalu") to help lower cholesterol, blood pressure, stress and weight while strengthening the heart. Walking is described as the easiest, most effective and safest form of exercise that anyone can incorporate into their daily routine to improve heart health and prevent heart disease.
Designing Talking Devices by Karen Kaushansky of JawboneDeviceDesignDay
Designing Talking Devices delivered by Karen Kaushansky of Jawbone at Device Design Day 2011 hosted by Kicker Studio.
Jawbone designs world-class wireless headsets and speakers/speakerphones built for the mobile lifestyle. Not only are these devices used to communicate and stream audio content, but they also deliver intelligent and timely audio experiences/notifications directly to the user. These devices talk to you, tell you who's calling, tell you how much battery you have left and when it's running low, and provide feedback as you're completing tasks.
In this talk, Karen Kaushansky will share lessons learned from creating audio experiences for various Jawbone products and design guidelines that can be applied to any consumer device that offers feedback to its users.
The document discusses cognitive load theory and its implications for interface design. It defines cognitive load as the total mental effort imposed on working memory. Cognitive load is made up of intrinsic, extraneous, and germane loads. Interface design should aim to reduce extraneous load and increase germane load according to cognitive load theory principles. Specifically, interfaces should be organized, consistent, and avoid clustering information to reduce cognitive overload for users.
The document discusses cognitive load theory and its implications for interface design. It outlines that interfaces should be organized, economical, and communicate information clearly to avoid overloading users' cognitive abilities. Well-designed interfaces reduce extraneous cognitive load through principles like consistency, limiting information per screen, and applying techniques from cognitive load theory such as worked examples. The key is to simplify interfaces and make them user-friendly to actively engage and motivate users.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

Temple of Asclepius in Thrace. Excavation resultsKrassimira Luka
The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).
