July at the parish level-finals (Combined with inaugural get-together at 3 pm in the AV hall)
RULES
1. This contest is open to all the registered ECO KIDS (5th
to 11th
) of our parish.
2. The participants can take any topic on environment for their speech. Plenty of topics are available in our
parish website GEM PPT section. Kids are also free to take topics from any other online/offline sources.
3. The speech will be about 2 to 3 minutes. Language could be English, Hindi and Marathi.
4. During the coming Sunday, 18th
June official ECO KIDS monthly meeting, animators’ in-charge will explain
the rules and suggest/allot the topics and motivate the kids to participate. Kids have one week to prepare.
5. Just reading the speech from a written paper is not considered a good speech and may get less points.
Participants can easily remember or by heart the speech as it is just 2 to 3 minutes speech.
6. Just to help kids, you may explain these simple clues of a good speech (which also helps to remember
better):
a] Starter - begin the speech with some incident, fact, example, self-disclosure/experience, story etc.).
b] Main body: Present the main content of the speech point wise - points 1, 2, 3 etc.
c] Conclusion: conclude with something to provoke thinking, reflection and action in the listeners.
Presentation of speech few clues: eye contact, (don’t look at the fans, wall etc. look at audience), physical
gestures, facial expressions, voice/clarity etc.
With these few clues, kids can easily prepare a speech of 2/3 minutes.
7. The community level Elocution contest will be considered as an ECO KIDS project and will get 20 points,
provided minimum 10 kids participate (refer the June feedback form attached). The top 3 winners from your
area kids will participate in the final contest at parish level. Submit the following entry form to Fr Felix before
Wednesday, 5th
July.
8. To judge the contest you can appoint some suitable persons. It is a good opportunity to network with
people of other faiths. (see sample judges sheet attached).
9. The final contest will be held on Sunday 9th
July in our church A.V. hall during the inaugural gathering of
SCC ECO KIDS.
10. For the winners (top 3) at the community level, the animators will arrange some prizes (as a token, you may
give prizes to other participants also). For the winners in the final contest of 9th
July, the prize/certificate will
be awarded during the ENVIRONMENT RALLY (similar to last year).
11. In the following entry form, write the names of the winners (participating in the finals) and also write the
number of ECO KIDS attending the INAUGURAL GET-TOGTHER. Names/nos are needed to arrange
snacks/drink.
