Earth loaf, the Chocolate Factory– NAVI LUNA is located in the Hebbal industrial estate, an industrial zone at the fringe of the city of Mysore, located 140 km from Bengaluru, extending with stunning views with Hebbal Lake as the backdrop. The client’s brief called for a landscape-oriented footprint of approximately 35000 sq. ft on a 1-acre land. With this space, the Bengaluru based design company Rubenius aims to connect the customer with the company’s core philosophies, allowing them to step into the company’s shoes to experience the joy of creating chocolates and sharing the journey – from bean to bar. Earth Loaf, a chocolate experience centre in Mysore, Karnataka exhibits a set of landscape and interior design narratives that exemplify the manufacturing process of chocolate, its by-products and retail activities through sustainable solutions incorporated into the landscape design and architecture. The design process for Earth Loaf started with incorporating the client’s work belief ‘Bean-to-bar’ to the overall masterplan ideation with incorporation of heritage and cultural details. The spatial theme was interpreted around concepts dealing with the characteristics of chocolate, sustainable development, healthy workplace and its impact on humankind. The zen-inspired dry landscape is attributed to the health benefits of chocolate, green landscape and water bodies to the calming effects of chocolate and flowering plants and creepers to the variety and excitement factors associated with chocolate. The overall organic approach that involved people, theme and experience.
