The eagle has the longest lifespan of birds, but as it ages past 20 years its beak becomes bent and its wings become too heavy to fly. The eagle then has a choice to either die or go through a 60 day process of renewal. This process involves the eagle traveling to a mountaintop, knocking its beak against rocks until it falls out. It then waits for a new beak, and repeats the process with its talons and feathers, after which it emerges reborn and lives for another 30 years.
