The eagle has the longest lifespan of its species but as it reaches 40 years old, its talons and beak become too bent and broken to hunt for food. The eagle then has a choice to either die or go through a painful 150 day process of regeneration. This involves flying to a mountain top, knocking its beak against a rock until it falls out, then waiting for a new beak to grow before repeating the process with its talons and old feathers, allowing it to live for 30 more years.
