The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

3. Definition_______________________
E-commerce also known as Electronic Commerce,
refers to buying and selling of products or services
over the Internet.
it can also describe any kind of commercial
transaction that is facilitated through the internet.
4. Types of E-commerce model_____
There are basically 4 main types of e-commerce models that can describe
almost every transaction that takes place between consumers and
businesses.
Business to Consumer (B2C):
When a good or service is sold to an individual consumer by a business,
e.g., we buy a pair of shoes from an online retailer.
Business to Business (B2B):
When a good or service is sold by a business to another business, e.g., a
software-as-a-service is sold by a business for other businesses to use.
Consumer to Consumer (C2C):
When a good or service is sold by a consumer to another consumer, e.g.,
we sell our old furniture on eBay to another consumer.
Consumer to Business (C2B):
When a consumer’s own products or services is sold to a business or
organization, e.g., an authority offers exposure to their online audience in
exchange for a fee or a photographer licenses their photo for a business
to use.
5. Business Application of E-commerce_
Conversational commerce:
e-commerce via chat
Digital Wallet
Document automation in

6. Need for web bussiness___________
1. Availability 24*7
Your e-store will be available for the customers 24/7. Time is not a
barrier anymore, customers can purchase at any time and from anywhere,
whether it is a Sunday or a holiday, your e-store is always OPEN!.
This is the biggest benefit for both, the sellers as well as the buyers, as it
increases the sales rate.
2. Increases your reachability
As the internet can be accessed from anywhere anytime around the
world, it allows people to reach out to your store globally. If you own a
physical store, only the nearby ones might know about your store, where
as in your estore, you can reach out to the whole world.
7.
8. 3. Customer experience
A user friendly, interactive and well built website with attractives layouts
and designs smoothens the customers shopping experience.
The customer can track their order and have a record of the number of
orders placed. My Orders, My Account, Track Order pages keeps the
customers updated.
4. Improved engagement activities and increase in
sales
The sales team can approach customers to purchase products online at
good discounts. So, various such activities can engage the team, which will
result in an increase of sales on the sales portal. In addition, it will also
keep a record of how many salesmen could turn leads to potential
customers.
9.
10. 4. Reduces Cost
The entire process is automated, so it reduces the role of middlemen.
The overall cost is comparatively less to run an ecommerce website than
the traditional business store. It reduces the cost of labour, store rents etc.
11.
12. Characterstics of public relation for
e-commerce
1. Ease of Navigation
This is one of the most important aspects on your website. If the
navigation is lacking, then your customers are not able to browse through
your store and find products they are looking for. This will not only
irritate the customer, but will cause a customer to never return to your
website.
2. Fast Load Times
Having fast load times is essential to getting a good ranking in Google. If
the website isn’t loading, they will most likely bounce from the website
and take their business elsewhere. Unfortunately, an online customer has
a lot less patience for anything to go wrong than a customer in a physical
store.
13. 3. Clear Polices
Clear Policies are crucial to having a successful business whether it is a
physical store or an online store. Policies are what protect not only the
shopper but the merchant. For example, having a clear return policy can
mitigate any future conflicts with customers who want to return a product
too late.
4. Design Isn’t Distracting from Shopping
Let’s be honest, sometimes the design of a website drives us absolutely
nuts. The design of a website should not take away from the shopping
experience. Remember that simple is always better when it comes to
design. Websites that are simply designed are ranked higher than
websites that are cluttered and hard to navigate. When a design takes
away from the shopping experience the customer is unable to navigate
and complete a purchase.
14. 5.Quality Photos and Videos
There is nothing worse than having a website with unclear photographs
and videos. The customer is unable to really accurately evaluate whether
the product is what they want to buy. Also it makes the customer have
unrealistic expectations about the product.
6.Promotes Related Products
Related products are so important when a customer is shopping on your
website. Due to the fact that a lot of customers are looking for specific
things, different designs, colors, or materials that the product is made out
of showing related products can help make a sale.
15. Steps for setting up bussiness on
internet__
