DWARFPLANETS
What Is A Dwarf Planet?
 The term dwarf planet has been tossed around a
lot in recent years. As part of a three-way
categorization of bodies orbiting the Sun, the
term was adopted in 2006 due to the discovery
of objects beyond the orbit of Neptune that
were comparable in size to Pluto. Since then, it
has come to be used to describe many objects in
our Solar System, upending the old
classification system that claimed there were
nine planets.
Pluto, once considered the ninth and most distant planet
from the sun, is now the largest known dwarf planet in the
solar system.
ERIS
 Eris was one of the first "dwarf planets" to be discovered in the
solar system. It is almost the same size as Pluto, and its discovery
directly led that former ninth planet's demotion.
CERIS
 A dwarf planet is a planetary-mass object that is neither a
true planet nor a natural satellite.
Makemake
 Makemake is a dwarf planet in the outer solar system.
It was the fourth body identified as a dwarf planet, and
was one of the bodies that caused Pluto to lose its
status as a planet.
HAUMEA
 is a dwarf planet located beyond Neptune's orbit.
 It was discovered in 2004 by a team headed
by Mike Brown of Caltech.
