You can feel the dryness in your throat. The land is barren and covered in thin dust. Cracks appears in the earth’s. This is drought
We hope you enjoy our 6 minute talk Made by Linh and Nida
Introduction: Throughout this speech you’ll learn The type of drought How a drought starts What causes a drought and lots more
What is drought? Periods of time without enough rainfalls when water becomes scarce ,crops fail & plants & animal suffer or die
How a drought starts : A drought starts when total rainfall is well below average for several months Other signs of drought include: Very dry soil Trees have a sign of dying Weather getting hotter and lots more Very dry soil
What causes a drought: T here are a lot of reasons that causes a drought like: When there is not enough rainfalls The biggest reason that causes a drought is global warming. Global warming is a big effect to the earth

Here’s the earth
There’ s a layer around the earth called an ozone layer. The ozone layer protects the earth Ozone Layer
From all the pollution we have made a hole in the ozone layer Hole
The sun shines in the hole and into the earth
This has increased the average temperature and caused climate changes to the earths atmosphere and also causes drought
Farmers: Australian farmers have been suffering throughout the drought time .It has been very hard for them to: Grow there crops Grow plants They have: Lost a lot of money There animals have died in the hot weather and lots more This is a picture of a corn destroyed by the dry soil
Prices of the food: From the drought the prices of the food in Australia has increased especially wheat It has increased like twice as its usual price
There are 3 types of drought They are Meteorological drought Hydrological drought Agricultural drought Type of droughts
Meteorological drought Meteorological drought is generally defined by comparing the rainfall in a particular place and at a particular time. The meaning is therefore specific to a particular location
Meteorological drought leads to soil moisture and this always has an effect on crops production
Hydrological drought Hydrological Drought is associated with the affect of low rainfalls on water level in reservoirs, rivers & lakes .This type of drought are noticed sometimes after a meteorology drought. A hydrological drought change in water level affects eco-system
Agricultural drought Agricultural drought occurs when there isn’t enough water for a crop to grow at the particular time. This type of drought doesn’t depend only in the amount of rainfalls where water is used carelessly for irrigation and other purpose.
