This document discusses digital rights management (DRM) from a skeptic's perspective. It defines DRM and explains that its two main goals are to enable new business models and stop unlicensed usage of copyrighted works. However, strong DRM is not fully secure and is eventually broken. Issues with strong DRM include lack of user support, challenges with preservation and fair use, and lack of interoperability. The document questions whether theft is really a problem and argues that innovating business models without DRM may be a better approach.
