This document summarizes a study that investigated the use of Parthenium stem powder for biosorption of lead from aqueous solutions. The study optimized various process parameters like pH, contact time, temperature, adsorbent dosage and initial lead concentration using response surface methodology. Batch experiments using Box-Behnken design showed that the optimum conditions for maximum lead biosorption were a pH of 5, initial lead concentration of 20 mg/L, and adsorbent dosage of 30 g/L. Kinetic, thermodynamic, and isotherm studies demonstrated that the adsorption process was spontaneous and fit the pseudo-second order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm model.
