Drawing a cinquefoil _ Stonemasonry technical skills at SkillsTech Australia
Method Construct a pentagon, and draw a small circle centred at each point Draw a large circle to inscribe these circles Draw circles concentric to the small circles, and terminate all curved lines at their intersection points Quatrefoil construction
Step 1: Draw a vertical line and a horizontal line intersecting at point A near the centre of the page
Step 2: Centre compasses at A and draw a circle radius 25mm
Step 3: Mark a vertical line tangent to the horizontal line at B
Step 4: Scribe a circle centred at B radius 50mm
Step 5: Scribe an arc A C D
Step 6: Scribe an arc C D E
Step 7: Line CE is one side of the inscribed pentagon. Step off Line CE around the circle to form pentagon C E F G H C
Step 8: Clean up construction lines
Step 9: Bisect line CH at J
Step 10: Draw a circle radius HJ
Step 11: Draw identical circles at C E F and G
Step 12: Draw an inscribing circle centred at B
Step 13: Draw a circle at B that is half the size of the inscribing circle
Step 14: Draw concentric circles with radius 25mm at C E F G and H
Step 15: Terminate all circles at their intersection points
Step 16: Clean up construction lines and darken outlines
