Topic: Act Now Theatre
INTRODUCTION:

Act Now Theatre is a professional theatre company that tailors socially
conscious theatre projects in collaboration with young people and community
groups. Our work is innovative, informed, inspiring, often confronting, and
never conventional.
Act now is a youth led theatre cpompany “With an immense depth and
maturity”. It quite popular current in Australia. It basically produces theater at
its finest.
ORIGIN OF ORGANIZATION AND
ITS MOVEMENT

This organization was Formed in 2007 as a street theatre ensemble
highlighting the situation of David Hicks, In the beginning ActNow
organization start developing street theatre projects with young people on
political issues and in 2009 the company presented its first staged work The
Revolution Starts Here, written by two young emerging playwrights. In the
same year, the company began working on a contemporary queer adaptation
of A Midsummer Nights Dream, and in 2010 the company presented a
performance know as “Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People”, which later was
described as the 2010 Best Independent Theatre Production. From 2008-2010
this company presented annual theatre for social change conference,
consisting of workshops, forums and performances.
GOAL OF THIS ORGANIZTION

ActNow will be focusing on partnerships with NGO’s,
school performances and community workshops
through the appointment of former Artistic Director
Edwin Kemp Attrill as the new Company Producer.
WHO DO THEY SERVE? WHO
BENEFITS FROM THEIR WORK AND
HOW?

This organization does not perform for a specific group of people. Mostly
they perform for educational purposes and students benefits and learn things
from their performances. They are currently In Australia and they have
performed in 14 schools in 2 weeks which can give us an idea of how much
they perform in a month and who they serve and who benefit from them

IN THE WORLD?

This organization produces drama acts for certain purposes. They have
produced many many drama acts but some of the most famous drama acts
they have produced yet are:
-Expect respect
-Alice and peter grow up
-Don Dunstan
-An enemy of the people
-RightAct
-The Revolution starts here
-The projects they are currently working on is known as "The clock”
SIMILARITIES

Targeted audiences were normal people.
Took stories and performed those stories.
Used props effectively.
DIFFERENCES

They acted stories from real life.
Professional actors performed these acts.
There way of performing.

There way of using the stage effectively.

The aspect that I want to explore about this organization is that what was so
special about their act known as “The ENEMY OF PEOPLE” that it

This organization have a really good reputation in Australia and also its
famous for performing in school because they perform so if this organization
stop working it will impact some schools and also public is going to be
disappointed because many people like their performance.
