Test anxiety gender and academic achievements
Objectives: To investigate undergraduate students’ test anxiety level; to measure
the correlation between undergraduate students test anxiety with their
academic achievement; and to measure the correlation of undergraduate students’
test anxiety from the perspective of their gender.
Methodology: Students of eight departments at University of Swat constituted
the study sample. Among these, 126 undergraduate level students were selected
through simple random sampling technique. The tool used for the study was
Westwide Test Anxiety Scale. Analysis of data was done using SPSS version 21.
Results: Among the selected respondents, there were 89 (70.63%) male and
37 (29.37%) female students. Our results revealed that 39.7% of undergraduate
university students were suffering from moderately high test anxiety. Male students
had 44.9% while female students had 27% moderately high test anxiety.
The correlation coefficient between CGPA and test anxiety of students was -.317
which shows inverse relationship. The average CGPA of male students was 2.8
while female students had a CGPA of 3.19. The mean test score of male undergraduate
students was 3.25 ±0.60 and female under graduate students was
3.13 ±0.77, p value .366.
Conclusion: Moderately high test anxiety was found in undergraduate university
students which was similar in both male and female students. Female students
showed better performance as compared to male students.

This document is a thesis submitted by Elizabeth Jenkins to Howard University examining the effect of confidence in past performance on future performance. It provides background on underrepresentation of minorities in STEM fields and research showing stereotype threat and validation can negatively impact performance. The study hypothesized that high confidence in strong past performance would predict better future performance, while high confidence in poor past performance would predict worse future performance. 147 Black undergraduate students completed 2 math tests, evaluating their first performance and confidence. Results found high confidence in strong performance predicted better second test scores, while high confidence in poor performance predicted worse scores, supporting the hypothesis.

The study found that the intervention led to a decrease in depressive symptoms for women and increased safety discussions between GPs and women about themselves and their children. However, the intervention did not significantly improve women's quality of life. The study provides preliminary evidence that screening and training GPs can help address intimate partner violence in primary care, though the training requires resources and uptake of counseling was low.

This study examined the physical and emotional impact of child abuse in young adults. It surveyed 51 college students, finding that over 40% reported experiencing child abuse. On average, participants had only 60% knowledge of child abuse. The study found no significant differences in GPA, physical health, or emotional health between those who experienced abuse and those who did not. It calls for future research with a larger sample size and closer examination of how child abuse affects people.

An online survey of pupils’ experiences of eating disorders - journal article
Background: Eating disorders (ED) have a peak rate of onset in school-aged children. Little is known about pupils’ experiences of ED within a school setting.
Method: Five hundred and eleven 11- to 19-year-old school pupils completed an online questionnaire exploring their experiences of ED (72% female, 28% male). Responses were analysed using content analysis principles.
Results: Of the participants, 38% had a current or past ED, 49% of these had never received a formal diagnosis. Of the respondents, 59% saw a need to raise ED
awareness. Only 7% would confide in a teacher about an ED.
Conclusions: Efforts are needed to break down
barriers to disclosure and support teachers to play an effective role in the detection and early intervention for
ED.
Effects of Feedback on Student Performance - Journal of Undergraduate Research

Transitioning into program
This study explored the lived experiences of first-year occupational therapy students transitioning into their OT cohort through phenomenological interviews. Four overarching themes emerged: 1) students found support within their cohort culture, 2) they experienced early positive outcomes from the program, 3) adjustments were required to maintain life balance due to increased stress, and 4) students desired more interaction with advisors and other cohorts. The transition brought increased stress but also new support systems. Students successfully coped by adjusting other roles but wanted more socialization. The results provide implications to help educators enhance student experiences and transitions into OT programs.
Depression Among Chinese Americans [Autosaved]

In 2004, Dr. William Allan Kritsonis was recognized as the Central Washington University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus for the College of Education and Professional Studies. Dr. Kritsonis was nominated by alumni, former students, friends, faculty, and staff. Final selection was made by the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Recipients are CWU graduates of 20 years or more and are recognized for achievement in their professional field and have made a positive contribution to society. For the second consecutive year, U.S. News and World Report placed Central Washington University among the top elite public institutions in the west. CWU was 12th on the list in the 2006 On-Line Education of “America’s Best Colleges.”

Six studies were reviewed that used various sample sizes and methodologies, including randomized controlled trials and qualitative analyses. Faculty climate survey of STEM departments at UMass Amherst
This survey of 383 faculty from STEM departments at UMass found:
- Women and men had differing views of department culture, especially in departments with few women. Men saw policies as more transparent and treatment as equal, while women saw favoritism towards men.
- Reasons for considering leaving included salary, research support, spousal employment, and department climate. Associate professors and underrepresented minority faculty were more likely to consider leaving.
- Faculty were satisfied with research collaborations but had varying views of facilities and grant support. Women preferred collaborative research more than men.
Exploring nurses' intentions to leave the profession
This study explores the intentions of female registered nurses to leave the nursing profession. The researcher conducted semi-structured interviews with nurses who had a serious intention to leave and had taken steps to prepare for another career. Five major themes emerged from the findings: feelings of duty and obligation, power dynamics in the nursing hierarchy, growing incongruity between working conditions and patient care, issues with interpersonal communication, and shifting perspectives on work and self. The study provides recommendations to nursing education programs and workplaces to address factors influencing nurses' decisions to leave the field.

This study was undertaken to present the functions of gender for promotion and describe the forms of gender discrimination in the workplace. The researchers present knowledge about the Gender discrimination in the workplace and the study is deemed significant for it benefit the following sectors and groups of person; This study is therefore useful socially, economically and academically. Socially it enables employees to co-exist peacefully without discriminating against others due to their ethnic background, gender or race. The respondents of the study were the employees and employers of selected business establishments in Cabanatuan city. First, the researchers presented the profile of the respondents as to age; sex; highest educational attainment; length of service and period of promotion granted .Next is the functions of sex in promotion and the forms of discrimination in the workplace. For the summary of findings and conclusions, majority of the respondents are not new in their work, female dominated the study, respondents were promoted after their provisionary period. Female are more supportive and approachable while male are more cooperative in the study. The respondents are continue seeking knowledge to be promoted or to have a higher position. Respondents are not new in service or in their job. Respondents are promoted after their provisionary period. Male easy recognize the scenario and straight forward in decision making. Men prefer a hierarchical leadership structure because it allows for easier role clarity and delegation of authority. Employers and employees are both believe in the patriarchal leadership that male are superior but women communicate properly in the workplace because they are more perfectionist and meticulous .Male are direct to the point in controlling the organization ,they do not use any further words to give their thought unlike women. And it is not usual for male to have corrective actions in every undertakings. Women are more efficient and almost perfectionist in all actions to be done .Women are less competent than men and lacking in leadership potential, because of these perceptions, women encounter greater challenges to or skepticism of their ideas and abilities at work. Men and women are correctly predicting the differential experiences that they would encounter with professional advancement and are making sound decisions. It is also possible that women are overestimating the negative consequences associated with power, that men are underestimating them, or both.

Education researchers have become increasingly aware of the challenges of measuring the impact of educational practices, programs, and policies. Too often what appears to be cause and effect may actually reflect pre-existing differences between program participants and non-participants. A variety of strategies are available to surmount this challenge, but the strategies are often costly and difficult to implement. Examples from general and Jewish education will highlight the challenges, identify strategies that respond to the challenges, and suggest how the difficulties posed by these strategies may be addressed.EVALUATION OF FACTORS CAUSING ABSENTEEISM FROM LECTURES IN A MEDICAL COLLEGE
ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the factors causing absenteeism among
undergraduate medical students from lectures in a medical college.
METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Aziz Fatimah Medical
& Dental College, Faisalabad, Pakistan during the month of July and August
2017. The participants were the medical students of the three batches (third
year, fourth year and final year) of the college. There were 308 students, with
more than 50% attendance in the last semester. These students were also
attending clinical classes. They were asked to fill the Likert’s Scale based
questionnaire. This study was done to find out the factors which influence the
students not to attend the lectures in medical college.
RESULTS: Out of 308 medical students in three batches, a total of 267
completed the questionnaire; the response rate was 86.6%. Mean age was
21.14±3.4 years. There were 105 (39.3%) male and 162 (60.6%) female
students. The two most common reasons for not attending the lectures were
preference of self-studying over attending lectures (n=123, 46%) and poor
teaching style by lecturers (n=128, 47.9%).
CONCLUSION: This study proved that the problem of absenteeism is
increasing nowadays in medical students. There are multiple factors of
absenteeism including bad construction of the lectures and preferring self-study
over taking lectures.

Recent political debates have suggested that the United States is on the verge of a crisis and their position as a leader in producing talented and ambitious individuals in technical professions, such as engineering, is in jeopardy. A National Academy of Sciences 2006 report stated, “the United States can no longer afford the underperformance of our academic institutions in attracting the best and brightest minds to the science and engineering enterprise. Nor can it afford to devalue the contributions of some members of that workforce through gender inequities and discrimination” (2006).
Recent years have seen the movement of women into male-predominated programs and the movement of some programs toward gender-neutral compositions. However, a study of undergraduate college women revealed that women in male-predominated programs were more likely than those in female-predominated programs to report thinking about changing their major (Steele, James, & Bartnett, 2002) indicating that there is a problem in retaining these women recruited into male-predominated programs.
This study assessed perceptions of family supportiveness in academic program and anticipated career, anticipated career barriers, gender ideology and strategies for combining career and family among 181 graduate students from male-predominated, female-predominated, and gender-neutral programs at 11 research-extensive universities in the United States. Gender and program comparisons in perceptions of family supportiveness and anticipated career barriers were examined.
Unexpectedly, students in female-predominated programs perceived their programs and future careers to be less supportive of families than students in other programs. Women also anticipated more barriers to their chosen careers than men, with a significant gender by program interaction with women in male-predominated programs anticipating the most severe career barriers. While an egalitarian gender ideology was found to be a significant predictor of career scaling back for women it was not associated with career scaling back for men.

With emerging trends in the last three decades in Kenya, more girls have continued to access higher education with most studies showing that they still fall under the social sciences. Very few women enrol and complete training in science and technology fields at higher education. This paper examines the role of career counsellors in informing career decision-making process for girls to empower them to aspire fields in science fields, a Kenyan perspective.
Issues in Experimental Design
Experimental design aims to describe or explain how variables change under hypothesized conditions. However, it has some weaknesses and issues. It can only examine the direct impact of one or two factors rather than complex relationships. Randomization removes the effects of other variables but also removes important contextual information. There are also threats to internal validity like history effects, maturation, testing, and selection bias. External validity can be undermined if samples are not representative or conditions are artificial. Practical challenges include how much to disclose to participants, sample sizes, recruitment methods, and ensuring interventions are applied consistently. The research problem

A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
