2. COLOUR SCHEME
The colour scheme is pink,
black and white. They are
bright, striking colours
capturing the
characteristics of the pop

lip stick is hot pink which
shows her femininity. She

page spread. The masthead
is larger and matches the
colour scheme of the page

FONT CHOICES

is written in a stylistic font –
much like hand writing. This
represents the classic
nature of gospel music. The
large bold text of ‘NICKI
MINAJ’ is bold and pink,
going behind her arm as the
reader knows who she is as
she has a reputation.

The connotations of the colour
black are mystery and an aura
of darkness, her hair is black
with thick dark eyeliner.
The intensity of the red on her
shirt represents lust and
attraction. But can also show
her angst and disdain at the
public’s opinion of her.

her attitude to fame,
especially to the media. She
has choppy hair and dark
eyeliner, as well as a red shirt.
Her posture suggests she is
questioning, not seductive.

look like a punk artist rather

There is a darker, gloomy and
saturated tone within the article . The
colour scheme shows how simplistic
and easy going, it is how he would like
to be perceived.
The text shows a certain colour
scheme of green and black, which
matches the hues of brown on the

reader a personal insight

shows a large image of the
artist and the text is on the
separate page, not covering
the artists face. This creates
an impact for the reader, as
well as the words ‘orgies’,
‘vomiting’ and ‘Vicodin’.

The colour scheme of the
magazine’s double page is white,
black and red with a green tinge.
The red shows the intensity and
attraction of Jay-Z as a rapper
and an influential figure of the
music industry.

In the image, Jay-Z looks serious, like
his attitude towards making,
producing and performing his music.
This shows the reader that Jay-z is
mature, and doe not play around as
he is serious and passionate about
his craft.
You do not see his eyes so he has an
aura of mystery about him.

smaller, more concentrated
font to fit in more
information about the
artist, however the
masthead is in a bolder
font. It say’s “The Most
Exciting People In Music”,
this implies Jay-Z is ground-
breaking and current in the
music industry.
LAYOUT
The layout of the magazine is
simplistic with an image and
the article on separate
pages. The large red J is
printed across the text, this
shows Jay-Z’s ego as an artist
but is also a stylistic and
adds to the aesthetic of the
magazine.
