Wordpress is like The Dude, where things happen to it and no initiative is taken. Wordpress needs friends like Walter, or lead generation, to get to the bottom of issues.
Or you can say, Wordpress is the rug that ties the room together. ;-)
Containers Will Not Fix Your Broken Culture (and Other Hard Truths)VMware Tanzu
SpringOne Platform 2016
Speaker: Bridget Kromhout; Principal Technologist, Pivotal
Bridget Kromhout, Principal Technologist at Pivotal, says how things like containers are good tools, but they will not fix communication or team problems. A huge takeaway from this talk was the importance of decomposing the culture behind the monolith, not just the technical architecture itself.
Scott Bishop Omaha Advertising Expo Slides - OAX Scott Bishop
Slides from my Omaha Advertising Expo presentation.
How to Sell to the Right People, the Right Product, at the Right Time.
With the always-expanding fragmentation and personalization of media and audiences, businesses are increasingly losing the power to dictate their communications messaging. In today's uphill marketing battle the best way to maximize marketing ROI is to increase relevancy to your audience. In this session you'll learn what makes audiences click, share, and consume content. You'll learn how to make your business relevant to the right audience. And you'll learn how to maximize engagement with your current audience and how to go after the audience you want.
From learning how to code (2 weeks) then jumping in to EmberJS. A look into what it's like to be a beginning developer and how easy EmberJS is to use with very little knowledge.
This talk provides light insight on Ember-CLI, components, add-ons, and troubleshooting code.

Blogs may seem so 2005, but they are still a critical part of your online marketing activity. This presentation explains why blogging is so important, and how to optimize your blog for success.
Recovery. How To Successfully Relaunch A Real Estate Company Using Socal MediaGraham Hunt
How to use social media to promote the recovery of a small business in Spain. Keeping connected in a changing world and surviving in the worst real estate market ever.
From the Ground Up: Building a WordPress Business – A WordCamp TalkSeth Shoultes
I've been using WordPress for over ten years and running a business around it for over eight years. Before that, I worked various construction jobs, then ran a small website development business and dabbled in all kinds of CMS's, then moved on to work as a front-end developer in a marketing position at an international medical coding and billing education company. While I worked there, I developed their WordPress websites and built various in-house plugins, at the same time I stayed up every night after work developing the early versions of Event Espresso for my wife's scrapbooking business. Due to the material costs and flaky customers, she wasn't willing to shell out fees to Eventbrite. Since there weren't any good plugins (IMO) at the time, I found an abandoned plugin that handled registrations, then added PayPal. Since I never heard back from the original developer, I ended up releasing and marketing my plugin under a different name. After a while, it got to where I was supporting it so much that I had to quit my full-time job to work on developing the plugin, supporting customers, and growing the business around the plugin. Somewhere along the way, I picked up my co-founder, Garth Koyle, we entered the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge in 2011 and won the grand prize of $40,000 for our business idea. At the time, we had just released the first version of our mobile apps, which allowed onsite ticket scanning and attendance tracking. Then in 2015, we launched our software as a service company, called Event Smart, which is powered by WordPress and Event Espresso.
Entrepreneurs and marketing practitioners today are recognizing the power and influence of bloggers to generate awareness, ignite conversations, and inspire people to action. However, very few blog marketing entrepreneurs today can help in blog and content creation for the long term.
Janette Toral discussed the opportunities and lessons learned in blog entrepreneurship.
This is also to promote the Ateneo-DigitalFilipino.com Blog Entrepreneur Program that will start this October 16, 2010. Details at http://bit.ly/blogentrep

Editor's Notes
How many people have an audience?Of those who don’t, how many of you want an audience?(Based on response, note how helpful my talk will be for you)
See your website like The Dude. It needs a Walter to get things done. The dirty work, if you will. Even if it means delivering his dirty undies as a ringer.
Who am I? Well, I’m like The Stranger, actor Sam Elliott’s character in The Big Lebowski, except with no mustache and cowboy bootsThe name’s Hubert.I am a marketing strategist and I moonlight as a community builder in the areas of music, marketing and the city of Detroit
Describes the generation of consumerinterest or inquiry into products and services of a businessSynonyms of lead generationinternet marketingcustomer acquisitionBuilding a fan baseHelping the sales teamFor some, lead generation simply is what is required to gain a big pay day (totally handicapped Lebowski thinking)But really, me speaking to you right now is a part of my lead generation campaignLeads at the end of the day are people. They may be potential customers, fans or friends. Whoever they are to you, they are good to have before you really need them.
Lead generation is the entry to the pathway to captivated readers, engaged customers and excited fansNo two people should have the exact same path, but many treat lead generation in a very general sense
That said, your lead generation system may never be perfect. To be Dude-like, most would want to set it and forget it. Unfortunately, you will not be as successful as you can with that mindset.
If you are doing lead generation with Wordpress, a lead equals an email. There are a slew of services you can use to collect, organize and engage them.
While I do not like to give endorsements in talks like these, I can only share tools I have used. I will only share tools I know will be of value to you.Form services like Wufoo and Gravity Forms, which is an exclusive Wordpressplugin, are great because they are easy to use for the n00bs and preferred by expert designers and developers.
There are so many email marketing services. My favorite is MailChimp, because I’m a sucker for great marketing. These services help keep email marketing honest. Most require you to use their opt-in system to validate email subscribers. Getting buy-in to engage your lead is key. Too many websites play the “oh, I gave you something free. You should expect this spam and love it.” Not a fan.
CRMs are for the sales professionals. If you do sales, you likely use a CRM. I won’t really go into it, but I’ll gladly take questions about them.
Are there any enterprises in here? No moguls in the house? I thought so.If you work for an enterprise, it is likely you could benefit from a marketing automation system. There are quite a few of those as well.
In all seriousness, you can have all the leads in the world, but it means nothing if you do not deliver value. You have to conduct some follow-up and follow-through. That is the only way a lead matters, which requires:
