Curtin University Docker - Presentation
n the 16th of May 2018, the students covering the Curtin Unit: Business Application and Diploma Software Development (Part1, Part2 & Part3) had the privilege of welcoming a member from Hackers.mu [Mr Codarren Velvindron] for a workshop on Docker which is a tool that allows any application to be deployed as a self-sufficient container.
The presentation included an introduction to technologies such as Docker, Linux, NGINX, Python, Devops, Bash Shell online Scripting which is a new discovery for the students. They were also able to have a better understanding on computer security. Furthermore with the acquired knowledge from our speaker, the students were able to have hands-on practice on Docker using Linux Commands.
Negotiation skills together with tips in succeeding in an interview were also shared with the students for their future venture.

Using a suite of Performance Engineering techniques, I will reveal some surprising discoveries about cosmic Kafka mysteries in our data centres, related to: cluster sizes and distribution (using Zipf’s Law), horizontal vs. vertical scalability, and predicting Kafka performance using metrics, modelling and regression techniques. These insights are relevant to Kafka developers and operators.
