This study aims to evaluate taste disturbances in patients undergoing middle ear surgery. Taste will be measured before and after surgery using a chemical test to assess thresholds. Patients with middle ear disease undergoing surgery will be included. Exclusion criteria are non-operable patients and those unable to participate. The goals are to better predict risks of nerve impairment during surgery, study types of nerve damage from different diseases and surgeries, and assess symptoms and consequences for patients.
