Brazil. In 2011, in the mountainous region of Rio de
Janeiro, 915 people from seven cities died from a force of
storm and unusual dimension. Losses exceeded the
figures of R $ 9 billion.
The listed data and described by the researcher Soraya
Schneider guest speaker who also coordinates the
Medium Group Environment Transport and Logistics
Laboratory (LabTrans / UFSC) show that the natural
disaster occurrences increased 268% in the 2000s
compared to the 1990.
"This workshop is the result of a partnership between
the DNIT and the university for the development of the
National Highway Adaptation Plan De Natural tailors.
There are few studies in this area. It is necessary to
provide the DNIT with instruments for their own planning,
"warned the director of Planning and Research, Adailton
Cardoso Dias.

California, US. Both presented concepts and brought their
experiences of the impacts of natural disasters on
highways around the world. "They indicated as DNIT may
implement the concepts to minimize the negative impact of
these phenomena on the highways under its jurisdiction,"
said LabTrans coordinator, Valter Tani. "Bring DNIT
resilience concepts for transport infrastructure able to help
decision making before, during and after extreme weather
events is of paramount importance, "said Valter Tani.
The second day of the event (25) was devoted to a
workshop for the domestic audience, which included a
multidisciplinary group of experts for discussion and
deepening of the topics discussed yesterday, such as the
