• And many many more…
3. Option 1: MGM
• Horror films made by MGM: ‘Childs Play’, ‘Poltergeist’
series, ‘Carrie’, ‘Cabin in the woods’,
• Local or global release: MGM is based in Beverly hills, so is
more focused upon global audiences.
• Big or small films: This company mostly works with big
Hollywood movies, but sometimes supports more
meaningful small titles.
• I would use this company as my distribution company, due
to the type of horror films it has distributed.
4. Option 2: Paramount
Horror films made by Paramount:
‘Psycho’, ‘Rings’, ‘Friday 13th’, ‘Children
of the Corn’
Local or global release: Mostly global
Big or small films: Often big Hollywood
blockbusters, but also some smaller
niche films.
I would use this company as a
distribution company, as it distributes
both big and smaller films.
5. Option 3: 20th Century FOX
Horror films made by 20th Century FOX: ‘Alien’ ,
‘28 days later’, ‘The Happening’
Local or global release: Global
Big or small films: Big blockbusters
I would not use this company for my
distribution, as they do not distribute the type of
films similar to mine.
6. Option 4: Universal Studios
Horror films made by Universal Studios: ‘Dracula’,
‘Frankenstein’, ‘The Invisible Man’
Local or global release: Both
Big or small films: Both
I would use this company as it distributes quite
small niche films, which then kick off and get
popular.
7. Option 5: Lionsgate
Horror films made by Lionsgate: ‘Cabin in the woods’,
‘Blair Witch’, ‘SAW’
Local or global release: Both
Big or small films: Both but majority is large
blockbusters.
I would use Lionsgate as my distribution company, as the
horror films they distribute are similar to the one that we
wish to create.
