Small, independent British production companies would be most likely to distribute the filmmaker's media product, as described in the document. The film is set entirely in Britain with no references to other cultures, it has a budget of £0, the filmmaker is a 17-year old student with no prior experience, and there are no professional actors or large sets. These factors would rule out major foreign and British production companies. The only potential distributors remaining are small British independent production companies, though the filmmaker acknowledges even they may not be interested given the lack of resources for the project.

1. • What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I think the types of companies who would be interested in producing my film are very
limited, this is for several reasons.
Firstly I am British and my film is set in England with no references to American or other
specifically foreign life styles. This means that it is very unlikely for a foreign production
company to be interested in my film, as it does not include anything that would relate either
exclusively or generally to that country’s life style (such as a high school for example.)
So that narrows is down to a British production company. Now at this point that’s okay,
although not as big or numerous, However, there’s other things that would narrow down the
number of potential production company’s willing to product my film
One other reason that would narrow the list down is that I am only 17, a student and have no
prior experience in making films. With a 0/0 films made no big block buster company would
be willing to produce my film. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t even be able to contact the
producers in the company about the idea, as they would most likely turn me straight down on
the spot.
As well as lack of experience, there aren’t even any qualified actors in my film. This would
definitely put of any big companies from producing my film as with this and my prior point
they can’t even garnet they would make above 100 pounds on my film.
Even if I could manage to get semiprofessional actors to star in the film for free, I still doubt
that would be enough to persuade the big production companies to even considering and
speak to me in person.
And as well as all that, there’s the budget. This film was made all at the expense of £0. There
are no special effects, there are no big sets and there’s no one who has been employed to
work with me on it. This final point alongside the others definitely rules out any and all big
British production companies
So that leaves only one potential group of production companies that would potentially be
interested in producing, my film and that is British indie production companies.
Now, seeing as I have no budget, no “good” actors, and no set, and no prior experience it’s
quite likely that I might not even be able to get any idea companies to produce my film.
If that was the case I would have to put it on social media and video hosting websites such as
YouTube.
