Creating and sustaining this positive relationship is part of every educator’s work. This is especially true in communities where tax levy elections support the school. Establishing positive community relationships is the right thing to do. When people in the community work together on behalf of students, great things can happen. I am a person who firmly believes that everyone is equal despite anything. The fact that one may be of a different color or religion does no affected me because I think that everyone is equal. Also, for people who come from a poor background, I feel like they should be considered to fit into society. My culture can affect my professional work, especially when working in an area that is sensitive to culture. It can have a affirmative impact on the people I labor with because they will learn to interact with others well. On the other hand, institutions where cultural diversity is not considered necessary, it will have a negative influence on me because expressing the difference would be difficult. I believe that every individual has a right to experience equality. Oppression is not suitable for individuals who are from a different culture or background. Also, people should not exercise bias in workplaces by making decisions that affect others and benefit themselves.
To be friendly and interact with people without fear despite their differences- an individual's behavior affects how they think (Gibson & Barr, 2017). For example, if a student walks up to me to ask a question, it is my role to be friendly to them to ensure that they do not fear to approach me another time. Also, for the students who come from poor backgrounds, it is essential to be friendly to them to ensure that they concentrate on their studies. It will help boost their performance because they will know that the teacher does not worry about the difference but in offering them quality education. Hanging out with people who have a positive attitude compared to mine- for example, being culturally insensitive can be eliminated by sensitive people. Interacting more with people who take into account all cultures can have significant influence on how I handle people from different cultures. To identify situations when the biases affect my behavior- when working with children in a class setup, it is essential to assess every student to know their strengths and weaknesses. Also, through observation, one can identify a student who is having difficulties in class and help them (Gibson & Barr, 2017). To avoid bias, concentrating on helping one child can affect others because they will feel that they are not necessary. Therefore, it is essential to focus on all the kids to ensure that equality is observed. Being biased affects one's behavior and attitude towards things.
The strategies chosen can help build a positive relationship between educators, children, and parents to ensure that every party is satisfied. Working with individuals who are not biased can help reduce biases. Being friendly can help children from a poor background to study well because of positive energy. With the progress of era, the development of the society, the establishment of market economy, internal quality and external quality is good or bad, will directly related to people's development and success in society, strengthen the civilized behavior nurturance education is not only we need to carry forward the traditional virtues, the physical and mental development of students.
Schools in the community culture are also an important factor of the school culture. Community influence school education culture in two ways: one is the community environment affect the students. Which school culture; the other is a community environment affect the choice of the school education measures, thus affecting students' achievement and behavior. Student community is composed of molecules, the community formed by the values influences them and behavior will bring people affect the nature of the school culture in school. Not only that, in the school as a community organization, its education policy, and education content, education style are vulnerable to the influence of community environment. The characteristics of the school itself also can influence student involvement. For example, larger schools increase the sense of anonymity in students, and teachers are often hard-pressed to provide individualized instruction.
Peers aid in socialization, often through the act of play. Even young children begin to prefer to play with other children rather than play by themselves or with adults. Children often model their behaviors based on their peers. Peers can reinforce behaviors (which may be desirable or undesirable by caregivers or teachers), encourage socially appropriate behavior and attitudes, establish age-related values, and help children learn how to interact with others.
Although television and electronic media impact a child's development, keep in mind that they only provide the medium for delivery of the message. To be friendly and interact with people without fear despite their differences- an individual's behavior affects how they think (Gibson & Barr, 2017). For example, if a student walks up to me to ask a question, it is my role to be friendly to them to ensure that they do not fear to approach me another time. Also, for the students who come from poor backgrounds, it is essential to be friendly to them to ensure that they concentrate on their studies. It will help boost their performance because they will know that the teacher does not worry about the difference but in offering them quality education. Hanging out with people who have a positive attitude compared to mine- for example, being culturally insensitive can be eliminated by sensitive people. Interacting more with people who take into account all cultures can have significant influence on how I handle people from different cultures. To identify situations when the biases affect my behavior- when working with children in a class setup, it is essential to assess every student to know their strengths and weaknesses. Also, through observation, one can identify a student who is having difficulties in class and help them (Gibson & Barr, 2017). To avoid bias, concentrating on helping one child can affect others because they will feel that they are not necessary. Therefore, it is essential to focus on all the kids to ensure that equality is observed. Being biased affects one's behavior and attitude towards things.

With the progress of era, the development of the society, the establishment of market economy, internal quality and external quality is good or bad, will directly related to people's development and success in society, strengthen the civilized behavior nurturance education is not only we need to carry forward the traditional virtues, the physical and mental development of students.
Schools in the community culture are also an important factor of the school culture. Community influence school education culture in two ways: one is the community environment affect the students. Which school culture; the other is a community environment affect the choice of the school education measures, thus affecting students' achievement and behavior. Student community is composed of molecules, the community formed by the values influences them and behavior will bring people affect the nature of the school culture in school. Not only that, in the school as a community organization, its education policy, and education content, education style are vulnerable to the influence of community environment. In fact, the relationship between community and school is a kind of complicated relationships. Begin this week by thinking about “how important is parent involvement in the teaching and learning process?” Then, take a look at the Harvard Family Research Project (2014), which has published articles and digests on their Family Involvement Research Digest website that address family involvement across all cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and grade levels. The overall theme of these studies show a correlation between family-school partnerships and positive student achievement. For example, highlights from African-American and Chinese-American Parent Involvement: The Importance of Race, Class, and Culture (Links to an external site.) indicate that, depending on their cultural background, parents had different levels of home-based involvement. One hundred fifty years ago, the Kansas-Nebraska Act set the stage for America's civil
war
Abolitionist John Brown--failed businessman, sometime farmer and fulltime agent, he believed, of
a God more disposed to retribution than mercy--rode into the Pottawatomie Valley in the new
territory of Kansas on May 24, 1856, intent on imposing "a restraining fear" on his proslavery
neighbors. With him were seven men, including four of his sons. An hour before midnight, Brown
came to the cabin of a Tennessee emigrant named James Doyle, took him prisoner despite the
pleadings of Doyle's desperate wife, and shot him dead. After butchering Doyle and two of his
sons with broadswords, the party moved on to kill two other men, leaving one with his skull
crushed, a hand severed and his body in Pottawatomie Creek.
In a sense, the five proslavery settlers were casualties not merely of Brown's bloody-mindedness
but also of a law described by historians William and Bruce Catton as possibly "the most fateful
single piece of legislation in American history." Ironically, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, passed by
Congress 150 years ago this month (100 years to the week before the landmark Supreme Court
decision--Brown v. Board of Education--barring school segregation), was meant to quiet the
furious national argument over slavery by letting the new Western territories decide whether to
accept the practice, without the intrusion of the federal government. Yet by repealing the Missouri
Compromise of 1820, which had outlawed slavery everywhere in the Louisiana Purchase north of
Missouri's southern border (except for Missouri itself), the new law inflamed the emotions it was
intended to calm and wrenched the country apart.
As a result of the legislation's passage, resentments became bloody hostilities, the Democratic
Party lay shattered, a new Republican Party was created and an Illinois lawyer named Abraham
Lincoln embarked on the road to the presidency. Had the law made civil war unavoidable? "I'd
put it this way," says historian George B. Forgie of the University of Texas. "Whatever the
chances of avoiding disunion before Kansas-Nebraska, they fell dramatically as a result of it."

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Discussions Students of Diverse Backgrounds The Moore-Thomas, Day-Vines article explores cultural competence as it relates to effective collaboration and interactions as well as an understanding of the political structures and socio-cultural realities of African American students, families, and their communities. Describe the specific models, strategies, and recommendations for educators to work effectively with students with diverse social differences (i.e. economic, ethnic, cultural, family, geographic region, ect). What steps can you take to be a culturally competent educator as you plan on working with specific groups, school, family and community members? Parent Support Some parents may not know how to support their children in school. These parents as children may have had an unsuccessful school experience where they felt frustrated and even ashamed of their personal educational outcomes. Understanding that these parents may not have the knowledge on how to navigate the educational system to the advantage of their children, identify what does Hjalmarston suggest? Do you agree with Hjalmarson’s characterization of the problem and her categorization of parents? Journal Encouraging Parent Involvement Reflect on the following ways you would like to encourage parent involvement: Positive news phone calls, post cards, emails, daily student notes, and parent-teacher conferences. - 2. Assignment Developing Relationships Community relationships are important in school success. Schools are often at the center of community activity and can be a significant source of pride to a community. Creating and sustaining this positive relationship is part of every educator’s work. This is especially true in communities where tax levy elections support the school. Establishing positive community relationships is the right thing to do. When people in the community work together on behalf of students, great things can happen. Part of establishing positive community relationships is “getting the message out” about the good things the school is doing in/for the community. For this assignment, you are to take the part of a teacher who has been invited to speak for 10-15 minutes to a community group (your choice) to discuss the school, what students are doing in/for the community, and how the community can best support the school and its students. Your presentation should be creative, engaging, and media focused. You may use the presentation software of your choice (Power Point, Present Me, Prezi, etc.). The length of the presentation should be sufficient to cover a 10-15 minute presentation. It is not necessary to use reference materials, but any reference materials cited should be cited/referenced according to APA as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Please be sure to include speaker’s notes in your presentation. Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
