Dimitris Sgouros was born in Athens, Greece in 1969 and began playing the piano at a young age, giving his first public performance at age seven. He won several piano competitions between 1978-1983, including in Bulgaria, Italy, and Athens, and received the 1982 Leonardo Da Vinci International Award. Before turning 13, Sgouros graduated from the Conservatory with highest honors and distinctions. He has recorded for major labels and performed in festivals around the world.

Sgouros won several competitions

the UNICEF competition in Bulgaria,
a competition in Ancona, Italy, and

Competitions in his home city, Athens.
He was also the recipient of the
1982 Leonardo Da Vinci
International Award. In mid-1983,
before he had turned 13, Sgouros
graduated from the Conservatory
with Professor’s Diploma, a
Teacher’s Diploma, a First Prize and
a gold medal. He has recorded for
various record labels, including Dino
Music and EMI. Since March 1988
three Sgouros Festivals have taken
place in Hamburg and Singapore.
