Dimension Films was originally founded by Bob Weinstein in 1993 to distribute horror films but later expanded to other genres. It became a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Studios when Disney fully purchased Miramax Films, which had previously owned Dimension. Some of Dimension's most notable films include the Scream and Halloween franchises. Profits from sequels of pre-2005 Miramax films were shared with Disney until Miramax was sold.
