2. Artificial Intelligence
Short definition
AI (artificial intelligence) is the simulation of
human intelligence processes by machines,
especially computer systems. These
processes include learning (the acquisition of
information and rules for using the
information), reasoning (using the rules to
reach approximate or definite conclusions)
and self-correction.
Examples
Artificial Intelligence is used in many fields and in our
daily life :
• Digital Assistant (Siri, Google assistant etc.) *
• Video Games: characters that learn your
behaviors, respond to stimuli, and react in
unpredictable ways
• Smart Cars: Tesla autopilot or other self driving
system exist thanks to artificial intelligence allowing
the vehicle to take actions without the help of a
person.
• Predictions: predicting purchase through the analysis
of consumer’s habits or traffic density through the
analysis of vehicles flows.
• Recommendations, security, customer support etc.

3. Virtual reality
Short definition
Virtual reality is an artificial environment that
is created with software and presented to the
user in such a way that the user suspends
belief and accepts it as a real environment.
On a computer, virtual reality is primarily
experienced through two of the five senses:
sight and sound. Virtual reality can be
divided into:
• The simulation of a real environment for training
and education.
• The development of an imagined environment
for a game or interactive story.
Examples
Oculus rift HoloLens
Several players exist in this field, the two examples above
show the type of product allowing the immersion process.
Today, it is used to do visualization (molecules, buildings
etc.), to create training environments (aviation, military
etc.), or even to treat mental illness.
4. Augmented reality
Short definition
Augmented reality is the integration of digital
information with the user's environment in
real time. Unlike virtual reality, which creates
a totally artificial environment, augmented
reality uses the existing environment and
overlays new information on top of it.
Examples
It allows its users to see their products
in 3D in a real-life environment and real
time through smartphones or tablets
Other types of applications exist with
augmented reality such as games
(Pokemon Go), GPS (Sygic) or even
browsers (Argon4), for example, when
you point your smartphone at a building,
you can see its history or estimated
value.
5. Digital Assistant
ExamplesShort definition
A virtual assistant, also called AI assistant or
digital assistant, is an application
program that understands natural
language voice commands and completes
tasks for the user.
Google’s digital assistant answer you
questions, schedule your meeting,
send messages etc. it commanded
by your voice “Hey Google”
Siri is the digital assistant of Apple. It
has the same characteristics as
Google assistant, a bit less
advanced.
6. Ephemeral App
Short definition
Ephemeral apps, lower the barrier for end-
user app acceptance by removing the app
installation step when ‘trying out’ new apps.
This concept also concerns the content of
the app. Ephemeral messaging apps such
as Snapchat, Wickr and Frankly, advertise
that your photo, message or update will only
be accessible for a short period of time.
Examples
Snapchat allows you to share photo,
video and text that would be deleted
after your receiver views it.
Xpire is an app meant to give users
better control over how long their
messages are public on social
networks by offering tools that let you
set the expiration time on posts.
7. ChatBot
Short definition
Short for chat robot, a computer program that
simulates human conversation, or chat,
through artificial intelligence. Typically, a chat
bot will communicate with a real person, but
applications are being developed in which two
chat bots can communicate with each other.
Chat bots are used in applications such
as ecommerce customer service, call centers
and Internet gaming.
Examples
Whole Foods
Regardless of whether you’re at a store
shopping for groceries, you can always
search for recipes with the assistance of
the Whole Foods bot on Facebook
Messenger.
Spotify
Spotify’s Facebook Messenger bot
makes it easy for its customers to search
for, listen to, and share music. Once you
get started, you’ll get playlist
recommendations based on your mood,
what’s your doing, or any genre of music
you want
