Brining Online Learning to the Labour Market | Catherine Mongenet
Europe faces challenges related to digitalization, environmental and social issues, and developing skilled workforces. A large percentage of EU adults lack sufficient education and digital skills. Continuous learning is needed to remain competitive. COVID-19 increased demand for online learning as remote work grew and employers supported it. The need for reskilling requires more modular and micro-credentials. A European consortium offers MOOCs from 400 universities in 5 languages. A project aims to strengthen online courses for continuing professional development using a consistent micro-credentials system. This will facilitate recognition between institutions and meet company and employee needs. A working group is defining a European approach for micro-credentials with a shared definition, common characteristics, and quality assurance standards.

This document outlines a research study on developing vocational ICT curricula in developing countries using design-based research. The study will be conducted in three phases to: 1) identify local needs and requirements in a country like Afghanistan through interviews and analysis, 2) analyze international standards and develop a reference model by identifying gaps, and 3) develop and validate a reference framework through participatory design. Qualitative and quantitative methods will be used, including interviews, document analysis, and design sessions. Current work includes two papers analyzing ICT skills in Afghanistan. Next steps are to continue the literature review and collect data to design vocational ICT curricula personas for Afghanistan.
Competence gap in digital media and art – iProfessional project
The iPro project aims to build a framework to help education institutions match their curriculum to the needs of media and arts businesses. The Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) is involved in the project to close the skills gap in digital media and art. IADT runs various degree programs in areas like audiovisual media technology. The iPro project involves nine partners from eight countries and will develop surveys to identify skills needs, create a competency framework, develop sample curriculum modules, and pilot the model with feedback from students and industry.

these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
