‘Digital’ becomes Passe- ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) Takes
Center Stage
It will be a connected world with most things digital.
IoT is what will drive the agenda for private and public sector
enterprises.
IoT will become central for driving Smart Technologies,

At least 50% of the children born in 2025 will have a
Digital ID.
Digital IDs could well replace social security numbers. Every person will attain
an identity with birth. Their records will be centralized in national records.
These IDs will start replacing other documents required today for identification.
Imagine a world with no passports, ration cards, social security number, & other
address & ID proofs!!!

Axxxon & Axxle will sell PCs at $25; Cloud connected
PCs and a digital locker will redefine the PC
Consumers will hardly ask for specs such as RAM and storage anymore. The only
deciding factors to buy a PC could be resolution and graphics interface. Storage-
as-a-service will become the norm. All applications will move to the cloud.
Most technology products will become cloud based services.

The war will end: Internet cos will acquire Telcos; and
some Telcos will acquire Internet cos
While Internet cos will get bigger encompassing a large universe of
applications; telcos will still be the data pipes. The sectors will become one.
Consolidation in the connected world is inevitable. While regulations in the
US and Europe may prevent significant marriages citing antitrust issues,
companies across the merged sector will join hands.

Bite-sized Cinema
Nearly 70% of ‘major’ film releases in 2025 will be small productions; by
smaller labels and with shorter duration content.
As large screen televisions penetrate more homes, companies such as Netflix
will increase their investment in productions towards cinema and TV.
Broadcasters will relook their television content strategies too, to provide
build a library of short-form & short duration content.

Almost 70% of all commercial transactions in the world
will be cashless; bitcoin will gain more currency
Virtual payments are fast gaining ground globally for enterprise level as well
as consumer commercial transactions. Its only a matter of time before
people stopped carrying any cash.
Save up coins for their antique value 20 years hence!

Advanced materials will embed digital and IoT:
connected durables and products will be a norm
Everything could be connected and can have a sensor. Remote monitoring and
analytics will explode.
As advanced materials combine with embedded solutions to drive IoT, digital
media solution providers will need to create context-based, adaptive solutions,
for the future; the future is here, so start preparing for it.
Privacy-advocates will be at a loss trying to figure out suggestions for this
world.

Servers: On Lease-only.
Enterprise storage demand will decline this decade.
Private cloud will feed into enterprise needs.
At least, 60% of all data storage in the world will be on the cloud.

Other predictions
• CDNs will decline as a market, while it will be indispensible to
content delivery. Smart routing will be part of all data networks.
• Granular product markets will start dwindling in the digital
segments…many will become features absorbed into larger
applications.
• Holographic 3D will resurface: and will extend beyond TV and
cinema. It will be part of telepresence and all digital signage.
• Airlines will drive content licensing; at least 15% of content
licensing for media companies will be through airlines in 2025.
Airline entertainment and infotainment will grow exponentially.
