 A program to transform India into a digitally empowered
society and knowledge economy.
 Digital Technologies, which include Cloud Computing and
Mobile Applications, have emerged as catalysts for rapid
economic growth and citizen empowerment across the globe.
Implementation Approach
 Digital India shall follow a participative implementation
structure: By this we mean that it shall invite suggestions
from all stakeholders namely citizens, government and
industry and derive the best from them to form
innovative solutions.

NINE PILLARS OF DIGITAL INDIAAT
A GLANCE
• Broadband for all (Rural): 2.5 lakh village panchayats would be covered under the Bharat
Net by December 2016.
• Broadband for all (Urban): Virtual Network Operators would be leveraged for service
delivery.
• This pillar focuses on network penetration and filling the gaps in connectivity/ network
coverage in the country.
• The two components of the Public Internet Access Program are Common Service Centers
(CSCs) and Post Offices as multi-service centers.
• Government Process Re-engineering (GPR) using IT to simplify and make the government
processes more efficient.
• E-education , E-hospitality all are considered in e-KRANTI pillar.
• The Open Data platform (data.gov.in) facilitates proactive release of datasets in an open
format by the ministries/ departments for use, reuse and redistribution.
• Online hosting of information & documents would facilitate open and easy access to
information for citizens.

• This pillar focuses on promoting electronics manufacturing in the country with the target
of NET ZERO Imports by 2020 as a striking demonstration of intent. .
• This pillar focuses on providing training to the youth in the skills required for availing
employment opportunities in the IT sector .
• The Open Data platform (data.gov.in)facilitates proactive release of datasets in an open
format by the ministries/ departments for use, reuse and redistribution.
