oDigital India is a program to prepare India for
future knowledge.
oDigital was an initiative taken by the government of
India for providing high-speed internet network to
the rural areas.
oDigital mission was lunched by P.M. “Narendra
damodardas modi” on 1st July 2015.
oIn Digital India arround 1.13 lakh crore are
invested.
oIt helps to developed IT sector of India.
5. OBJECTIVES:-
The motto of the digital India mission is ‘power to Empower’ .
There are three component-
*digital infrastructure creation.
*E-governance.
*digital literacy.
oTo provide high-speed internet in all rural areas.
oTo provide easy access to common service center(CSC) in all
locality.
oDigital India is an initiative that combines a large number of
ideas and thoughts , It helps to achive a larger goal .
6. ADVANTAGES:-
• There is an increase in
electronic transaction related to
e-governance.
• An optical fiber network of
2,74,246 k.m has connected
over 1.2lakh grama pnchayats
under the bharat net
programme.
• Digital India helps to banking
system and cashless monitary
transaction like UPI,NET
BANKING,CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS
7. • Digital India helps to online booking of
hotel,train,flight,ola cab etc.
• Through online we purchase any thing like
foods, clothes,electronic items etc,by
amazon,swiggy,zomato etc.
8. CHALLNGES:-
• The daily internet speed , as well as
wi-fi ,hotspots , are slow as
compared to other develop nation .
• Limited capability of entry level
smart phones for smooth internet
access.
• Lack of skill man power in the field
of digital technology.
• Lack of users educations.
9. INITIATIVES:-
The govt. has taken of many initiatives under
the digital India campaign.
DigiLockers This flagships initiatives aim at
‘Digital Empowerment’s of the citizen by
providing access to authentic digital documents
to citizen’s digital document wallet.
E-Hospitals-On february,2021 as many as 420 e-
hospitals had been established under the digital
India campaign.
E-Pathashala-Developed by NCERT,e-pathashala
showcases and disseminates all educational e-
resource including text books , audio , video
through the website and mobile app.
BHIM-Bharat interface for money is an app that
,makes payment transaction simple , easy and
quick using unified payments interface(UPI).
10. 9 PILLARS
The ninepillars of Digital India are given below.
1. Broadband Highways- This covers three sub
components, namely Broadband for All-Rural,
Broadband for All – Urban and National
Information Infrastructure (NII).
2. Universal Access to Mobile Connectivity-
Thisinitiative focuses on network penetration
and filling the gaps in connectivity in the country.
3.Public Internet Access Programme –
The two sub components of Public Internet Access
Programme are Common Services Centres(CSCs) and
Post Offices as multi-servicecentres.
4. e-Governance: -
Reforming Government through Technology
Government Process Re-engineering using IT to
11. transformation to make the delivery of government
services more effective across various government
domains and therefore needs to be implemented by all
Ministries/ Departments.
5. e-Kranti - Electronic Delivery of Services- To
improve the delivery of public services and simplify the
process of accessing them. In this regard, several e-
governance initiatives have been undertaken by various
State Governments and Central Ministries to usher in
an era of e Government. e-Governance in India has
steadily evolved from the computerization of
Government Departments to initiatives that
encapsulate the finer points of Governance, such as
citizen contricity, service orientation and transparency.
6. Information for All-
This pillar aims to ensuretransparency and availability
of reliable data generated by the line ministries for

This pillar focuseson promoting electronics
manufacturing in thecountry.
8. IT for Jobs-
This pillar focuses on providing training to the
youth in the skills required for availing employment
opportunities in the IT/ITES sector.
9. Early Harvest Programmes-
This pillar consists of a group of different short-
term projects which have immediate effect on the
Indian digital ecosystem like IT platform for mass
messaging, crowd Sourcing of eGreetings. biometric
attendance in the government offices, WI-FI in all
universities etc.
13. CONCLUSION:-
On the digital platform of the digital
adoption, India ranks amongst the top 2
countries globally and the digital economy of
India is likely to cross $1 trillion (1 lakh
crores) by the year 2022 and now the
government is working towards
transforming it into a $5 trillion (5 lakh
crores) economy.
