Produced Water Handling System UpgradeBrian Thomas
General description of the application is discussed, along with IES performance of all engineering, design, programming, control panel fabrication, electrical construction, and construction of an electrical equipment building for this produced water handling system upgrade. Project consisted of the addition of a water separation and induced static flotation vessels, and eight 450 HP, 4,000 gpm water transfer pumps controlled by VFDs. Electrical and control system consisted of dual 12 kV services, a 12 kV Automatic Transfer Switch, 12 kV transformers, 480 V switch gear with manual transfer scheme, ControlLogix PAC’s and RIO control panels communicating using Ethernet/IP over a fiber DLR network, a Wonderware/ArchestrA SCADA system.

My presentation on Smart Cities to the RIBA and NBS Live Digital Thinking, Smart Buildings conference on 4th November 2014. The presentation gave examples of technologies that are disrupting the services, infrastructures and economies of cities, and examples of applying those technologies in ways that not only create efficiencies and resilience in cities, but that enable local communities and businesses to create their own innovations.
InduSoft Presentation: Water/Wastewater with InduSoft Web Studio and Patti En...AVEVA
With cities and municipalities looking for ways to offer safer, cleaner, and more reliable water supplies, many are turning to automation to aid in monitoring and controlling water/wastewater systems. Join us for a webinar with Nick Hitchcock of Patti Engineering, where we’ll discuss how SCADA software like InduSoft Web Studio was used to design a system for the City of Fair Oaks Ranch. See how Patti Engineering’s solution handles challenges like remote servers and web access for the city’s water/wastewater engineers, and hear some of their best practices for creating Water/Wastewater applications.
Dragos & SRP, PI World 2019: Utilizing Operations Data for Enhanced Cyber Thr...Dragos, Inc.
Adversary groups and activities targeting industrial control systems are on the rise. Security teams are now tasked with defending increasingly complex and critical control systems without interrupting operations. This presentation highlights plans and progress of a large public electric utility to extend threat detection capability using PI system data sets. Integration with a threat detection platform improves situational awareness and adds value in three ways. It first provides confidence for quickly eliminating threat activity as a root cause of operational upsets. The second benefit is improved likelihood of detecting malicious tradecraft targeting control systems. Finally, the integrated approach provides data in support of control system incident response and forensic activities.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Digital Citizenship is Far More
The world is changing faster than ever before, and in this digital age, even faster than what we can think. It has become a matter of adapt or die.
Die wereld is besig om vinniger te ontwikkel as enigsins vantevore, vinniger as wat ons kan dink. Adapt or die.
Technology is a wonderful thing when it doesn’t take over your life. In context, technological innovations such as mobile phones and the internet connect you to others and make day-to-day operations easier to carry out and more time effective. But technology addiction, like all other addictions, is something to be concerned about. When it becomes an obsession in is dangerous.
Children need a range of different experiences and stimuli. They need exercise, real human interaction and routine. When an addiction, such as internet addiction occurs, it tends to become quite a negative and destructive situation.

An internet usage policy provides employees with rules and guidelines about the appropriate use of company equipment, network and Internet access. Having such a policy in place helps to protect both the business and the employee; the employee will be aware that browsing certain sites or downloading files is prohibited and that the policy must be adhered to or there could be serious repercussions, thus leading to fewer security risks for the business as a result of employee negligence. The Internet Usage Policy is an important document that must be signed by all employees upon starting work. Below is a Sample Internet Usage Policy that covers the main points of contention dealing with Internet and computer usage. The policy can then be tailored to the requirements of the specific organization.
Schools cannot teach all there is to know. This is where libraries come in. For people to remain educated, to grow their knowledge, knowing how to become lifelong self-learners – and as librarians we have a huge role to play in the absence of school libraries. Become the ethical compass as far as technology concerns, but also to make sure that no-one is left behind – also those who cannot afford accessing digital technology and resources in any other way.
