A Complete Model of the Payment Service BusinessFrank Steeneken
This slide deck provides a complete picture of the underlying skeletal structure that holds every payment service business together while achieving its goals.
The model introduces a comprehensive framework for managing the complexity of the payment service business structure, and a reusable blueprint for visualizing how a payment service business enterprise actually does business. The model’s clearly-defined core-processes and their functions provide a powerful baseline for improving business performance.
By viewing the payment service business as a single system, fully independent of its implementation, the nature of its underlying core processes becomes clear. Then by managing and improving them as parts of a single system, substantial improvements can be made on critical success factors.

Everything You Need to Know About ChargebacksEran Feinstein
In the world of online and mobile payments, credit card fraud and chargebacks are a common concern among merchants. Business owners can protect themselves by understanding what chargebacks are, how the chargeback process works, and what measures can be taken to prevent them. Merchants can also avoid chargebacks by working with a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processing company, like 3G Direct Pay (http://www.3gdirectpay.com/)
Electronic payment is any kind of non-cash payment that doesn't involve a paper check. Methods of electronic payments include credit cards, debit cards, and the ACH (Automated Clearing House) network. The ACH system comprises direct deposit, direct debit, and electronic checks (e-checks).
Financial services is under profound pressure to transform: legislative catalysts, heightened customer expectations and new fintech entrants are forcing banks and credit unions to re-consider their role in the banking value chain. Leading organizations are responding by moving from traditional paradigms of branch banking, to Banking-as-a-Service, where the bank becomes a platform of capabilities that can be accessed and monetized via APIs, to both internal and external consumers alike. Attend this session to learn how Coast Capital, Canada's largest credit union, is making this vision a reality.

What is Payment Tokenization?
Tokenization enables banks, acquirers and merchants to offer more secure (mobile) payment services.
It is the process of replacing card data with alternate values.
The original personal account number (PAN) is disconnected and replaced with a unique identifier called a payment token.
The ‘mapping’ between the real PAN and the payment tokens is safely stored in the token vault.
With tokenization the original PAN information is removed from environments where data can be vulnerable.
Why tokenization?
Tokenization heavily reduces payment fraud by removing confidential consumer credit card data from the network.
The original data stays in the bank’s control. External systems have no access to this.
Tokens are not based on cryptography and can therefore not be traced back to the original value.
How does tokenization work?
Step 1: A payment token is generated from the PAN for one time use within a specific domain such as a merchant’s website or channel.
Tokens are sent to the token vault and stored in a PCI-compliant environment which does not allow merchants to store credit card numbers.
Step 2: Tokens are loaded on the mobile device.
Step 3: The NFC device makes a payment at a merchant’s NFC point-of-sales (POS) terminal.
Step 4: The POS terminal sends the token to the acquiring bank, which sends it to the issuing bank through the payment network.
Step 5: The issuer de-tokenizes the token to the real PAN and, if in order, approves the payment.
Step 6: After authorization from the card issuer, the token is returned to the merchant’s POS terminal.
Payment tokens perform like the original PAN for returns, sales reports, marketing analysis, recurring payments etc.
20. How can I issue tokens?
In order to use tokenization, a bank or merchant should become a token service provider (TSP).
A TSP manages the entire lifecycle of payment credentials including:
1. Tokenization: replaces the PAN with a payment token.
2. De-Tokenization: converts the token back to the PAN using the token vault.
3. Token vault: establishes and maintains the payment token to PAN mapping.
4. Domain management: improves protection by defining payment tokens for specific use.
5. Clearing and settlement: ad-hoc de-tokenization during clearing and settlement process.
6. Identification and verification: ensures the original PAN is legitimately used by the token requestor.

For operators of p2p payment services, we illustrate the Japanese regulations on such services with examples of such services in Japan (as of February 2018). Regulations in such areas are changing in Japan, and new services are being developed and introduced one after another. On the other hand, entries into Japan of some popular non-Japanese p2p payment services have been blocked by regulations of prior generations. We also discuss in this presentation on the legitimacy of couples of controversial p2p payment services in Japan, including polca and Osushi, and coming law revisions regarding bank API services.

# Internet Security: Safeguarding Your Digital World
In the contemporary digital age, the internet is a cornerstone of our daily lives. It connects us to vast amounts of information, provides platforms for communication, enables commerce, and offers endless entertainment. However, with these conveniences come significant security challenges. Internet security is essential to protect our digital identities, sensitive data, and overall online experience. This comprehensive guide explores the multifaceted world of internet security, providing insights into its importance, common threats, and effective strategies to safeguard your digital world.
## Understanding Internet Security
Internet security encompasses the measures and protocols used to protect information, devices, and networks from unauthorized access, attacks, and damage. It involves a wide range of practices designed to safeguard data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Effective internet security is crucial for individuals, businesses, and governments alike, as cyber threats continue to evolve in complexity and scale.
### Key Components of Internet Security
1. **Confidentiality**: Ensuring that information is accessible only to those authorized to access it.
2. **Integrity**: Protecting information from being altered or tampered with by unauthorized parties.
3. **Availability**: Ensuring that authorized users have reliable access to information and resources when needed.
## Common Internet Security Threats
Cyber threats are numerous and constantly evolving. Understanding these threats is the first step in protecting against them. Some of the most common internet security threats include:
### Malware
Malware, or malicious software, is designed to harm, exploit, or otherwise compromise a device, network, or service. Common types of malware include:
- **Viruses**: Programs that attach themselves to legitimate software and replicate, spreading to other programs and files.
- **Worms**: Standalone malware that replicates itself to spread to other computers.
- **Trojan Horses**: Malicious software disguised as legitimate software.
- **Ransomware**: Malware that encrypts a user's files and demands a ransom for the decryption key.
- **Spyware**: Software that secretly monitors and collects user information.
### Phishing
Phishing is a social engineering attack that aims to steal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details. Attackers often masquerade as trusted entities in email or other communication channels, tricking victims into providing their information.
### Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) Attacks
MitM attacks occur when an attacker intercepts and potentially alters communication between two parties without their knowledge. This can lead to the unauthorized acquisition of sensitive information.
### Denial-of-Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attacks

Wireless communication involves the transmission of information over a distance without the help of wires, cables or any other forms of electrical conductors.
Wireless communication is a broad term that incorporates all procedures and forms of connecting and communicating between two or more devices using a wireless signal through wireless communication technologies and devices.
Features of Wireless Communication
The evolution of wireless technology has brought many advancements with its effective features.
The transmitted distance can be anywhere between a few meters (for example, a television's remote control) and thousands of kilometers (for example, radio communication).
Wireless communication can be used for cellular telephony, wireless access to the internet, wireless home networking, and so on.
