1. Celebrating Extraordinary Jamaicans
The Digicel Foundation, since its start in 2004, has remained true to its vision of positively impacting
development and growth in the areas of special needs, education and entrepreneurship. These
programmes focus on the areas critical to the needs of the nation. This includes the achievement
of Jamaica’s Millennium Development Goal of increased literacy; the use of information and
communication technology (ICT) tools and equipment for primary schools and increasing training
for teachers; enhancing the capacity of special needs children across the island, including
training for teachers and increased opportunities for communities to become self-reliant through
entrepreneurship and the pursuit of sustainable projects and partnerships.
In the years ahead, the Foundation is committed to expanding the reach of its development projects
through innovative partnerships and projects.
