This document describes gold mining techniques from the past. Miners would extract rocks and materials from deep underground using horses or mules, and later use powerful water cannons to break rocks off cliffs and wash gold-containing material downstream. Individual miners would then spend time panning for gold by swirling water, rocks, and sand in pans to have the heavier gold sink to the bottom.
