- 2. Frequency “Frequency describes the number of waves that pass a fixed place in a given amount of time.” So if the time it takes for a wave to pass is 1/2 second, the frequency is 2 per second. If it takes 1/ 100 of an hour, the frequency is 100 per hour. Usually frequency is measured in the “hertz” unit, named in honor of the 19th-century German p hysicist Heinrich Rudolf Hertz. The hertz measurement, abbreviated Hz, is the number of waves that pass by per second. For example, an "A" note on a violin string vibrates at about 440 Hz (440 vibrations per second) . Boys have low frequency as they have loud voice but Girls have High frequency as they have Sh rill voice. Frequency Formula Frequency is the number of wave cycles or revolutions per second. The Formula for period (T) in terms of frequency is given by Amplitude “Amplitude is the objective measurement of the degree of change (positive or negative) in atmo spheric pressure (the compression and rarefaction of air molecules) caused by sound waves.”
- 3. Sounds with greater amplitude will produce loud voice and with lower amplitude will produce lo w voice. . It is denoted by A and is measured Newton’s per square meter (N/m2).The Amplitude Formul a is given by Where D is the distance traveled by the wave and F is the frequency of the wave. Pitch Pitch is the quality that allows us to classify a sound as relatively 'high' or 'low.' Pitch is determin ed by the frequency of sound wave vibrations. Pitch = frequency of sound A high pitch sound corresponds to a high frequency sound wave and a low pitch sound correspon ds to a low frequency sound wave. Boys have lower pitch as they can shout louder. But girls have higher pitch as their voice is shrill .
