SITUATION 1:
Mrs. Santos is a retired
teacher. Most of her life is
spent in working and
providing the needs of her
family. She feels alone and
bored since all her children
are working and just like
her, most of their time are
on work and have a limited
time to visit her. If you are a
social worker, what goal
should you used and how?
Nancy is a transferee at the Senior
High School program in your
school. Being new to the school,
she is noted to be quiet and avoid
interaction in people often. After
one semester, Nancy’s behavior
remains the same as she finds
difficulty in building relationship.
She chose to eat, read and walk
alone. Worried by the observation,
her adviser referred the case to the
school’s social worker. If you are
the social worker, what goal of
social work is applicable to her
situation and how are you going to
help her?

Peter is working a Non-
Government Organizations
where he specializes in
dealing with people who are
victims of disasters,
calamities and other
uncertainties. . If you are

help these people who are

unprecedented disaster?

  • 6. ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE As of July 31, 2022, there were only 6,796 Registered Social Workers- DSWD There were 9, 541 Social Welfare Positions in government bureaucracy but only 2,010 positions had been filled up as of June 30, 22- CSC
  • 7. ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE Mathematically, it indicates that there is a shortage in the number of Social Workers who are in need to provide services to the disadavantaged sectors and communities across the country.
  • 8. ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE House Bill No. 6910 or an Act of Establishing a Social Work Scholarship Program (SWSP) for Deserving Students - aims to address the lack of social workers across the country. - 3878/ 6833 examinees passed the licensure examination for Social Workers (Sept. 2023)

  • 24. SITUATIONS: SITUATION 1: Mrs. Santos is a retired teacher. Most of her life is spent in working and providing the needs of her family. She feels alone and bored since all her children are working and just like her, most of their time are on work and have a limited time to visit her. If you are a social worker, what goal should you used and how? Nancy is a transferee at the Senior High School program in your school. Being new to the school, she is noted to be quiet and avoid interaction in people often. After one semester, Nancy’s behavior remains the same as she finds difficulty in building relationship. She chose to eat, read and walk alone. Worried by the observation, her adviser referred the case to the school’s social worker. If you are the social worker, what goal of social work is applicable to her situation and how are you going to help her? SITUATION 2: Peter is working a Non- Government Organizations where he specializes in dealing with people who are victims of disasters, calamities and other uncertainties. . If you are Peter, what will you do to help these people who are homeless after the unprecedented disaster? What goal of Social work is portrayed in this given situation? SITUATION 3:
