Depot, Southern Partners Fund, Marguerite Casey Foundation, Ford Foundation, Veatch Foundation, Public Welfare Foundation,
John Deere Tractors, and the Southern Company. Provided legal oversight for the construction of a $4million SCLC
International Headquarters and the $1million sale of historical SCLC Papers to Emory University in 2008.

Proven experience in providing strategic thinking and change management guidance to corporations and foundations working
with progressive nonprofits. Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a global environment providing
financial management, analytics and reporting for large nonprofit organizations. Understands regulatory laws that affect
employment including an understanding of ADA, FMLA, and Title VII/Civil Rights Act. Has the ability to utilize procedures and
information required in the development of Affirmative Action programs while using affirmative action data to determine status

GENERAL COUNSEL / DIRECTOR OF CHAPTER & AFFILIATES, So. Christian Leadership Conference, 2004‐2010
         Prepare internal communications relevant to diversity in response to sensitive and challenging subject
          matter that could impact company reputation.
         Provide trainings and presentations on the goals of diversity and multiculturalism goals to ensure visibility
          and access to tools, resources and key stakeholders to support the continued development of diversity
          practitioners.
         Ensure support for diversity by working with Executive Management Team to manage vendor
          relationships, identify and offer development opportunities for vendors, oversee vendor database, and
          monitor sourcing and purchasing activities.
         Manage assigned EEOC or state agency investigations while working with functional management to
          investigate and analyze all relevant facts and data and develop an appropriate response.
         Serves as functional representative to EO-related special project teams, including teams focused on
          applicant tracking, selection systems, performance management, diversity training, etc.
         Coordinates and executes the dissemination of policy statements relating to EO/AA for the organization.
          Coordinates the process of filing all government mandated reports, as well as the process of maintaining
          compliance with regulatory requirements for state and local entities.
         Advise SCLC on matters concerning internal affairs, including matters related to directors, officers,
          employees and corporate relations with the general public.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR, Center for Democratic Renewal, 2002‐2004 
        Develop and implement programs to support and drive Diversity and Inclusion strategy. Conduct trainings
         to share best practices and success stories on transforming organizations via diversity and inclusion.
        Direct litigation; review and negotiate various business contracts; and monitor and protect intellectual
         property rights including trademark registration, licensing, and infringement issues.
        Maximized delivery of technical assistance program to African-American and other minorities in rural
         southern communities providing over 400 requests for technical assistance from rural southern
         communities. Developed a national campaign against hatred and bigotry to promote diversity.
REGIONAL DIRECTOR, Democracy South, 2000‐2002 
        Systematized on-site technical assistance to state partners concerning coalition building and campaign
         finance database development and coordinated Board of Director’s annual meetings.
        Rejuvenated campaign and served on the Executive Committee of the Fannie Lou Hamer Project, a new
         project dedication to advocating campaign finance reform as a Civil Rights issue.
        Published article on McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill and its effect on minorities; served as
         an organizational representative to USAction, Public Campaign, and other national organizations.
GENERAL COUNSEL AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, Newton Florist Club, 1998‐Present 
        Generated an increased in the general operating budgets of the grassroots environmental justice
         organization from $25,000 to $200,000 by identifying and securing grants from ten new foundations.
        Orchestrated a regional environmental justice conference which brought together over 100 activists and
         foundation representatives to discuss the effects of environmental toxins on youth.
        Pioneered development of a Community Land Trust which will build 25 affordable housing units.
DEPUTY DIRECTOR, Center for Democratic Renewal, 1996‐1999 
        Spearheaded the organization’s participation in the “1997 White House Conference on Hate Crimes”.
        Leveraged $10,000,000 in rebuilding resources for arson victims including pastors and congregations.
        Formulated a comprehensive report which documented the occurrence of 243 arsons at black and
         multiracial churches in the south and the possible role of organized hate groups in those arsons.

  • 2. DEPUTY DIRECTOR, Center for Democratic Renewal, 2002‐2004   Develop and implement programs to support and drive Diversity and Inclusion strategy. Conduct trainings to share best practices and success stories on transforming organizations via diversity and inclusion.  Direct litigation; review and negotiate various business contracts; and monitor and protect intellectual property rights including trademark registration, licensing, and infringement issues.  Maximized delivery of technical assistance program to African-American and other minorities in rural southern communities providing over 400 requests for technical assistance from rural southern communities. Developed a national campaign against hatred and bigotry to promote diversity. REGIONAL DIRECTOR, Democracy South, 2000‐2002   Systematized on-site technical assistance to state partners concerning coalition building and campaign finance database development and coordinated Board of Director’s annual meetings.  Rejuvenated campaign and served on the Executive Committee of the Fannie Lou Hamer Project, a new project dedication to advocating campaign finance reform as a Civil Rights issue.  Published article on McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill and its effect on minorities; served as an organizational representative to USAction, Public Campaign, and other national organizations. GENERAL COUNSEL AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, Newton Florist Club, 1998‐Present   Generated an increased in the general operating budgets of the grassroots environmental justice organization from $25,000 to $200,000 by identifying and securing grants from ten new foundations.  Orchestrated a regional environmental justice conference which brought together over 100 activists and foundation representatives to discuss the effects of environmental toxins on youth.  Pioneered development of a Community Land Trust which will build 25 affordable housing units. DEPUTY DIRECTOR, Center for Democratic Renewal, 1996‐1999   Spearheaded the organization’s participation in the “1997 White House Conference on Hate Crimes”.  Leveraged $10,000,000 in rebuilding resources for arson victims including pastors and congregations.  Formulated a comprehensive report which documented the occurrence of 243 arsons at black and multiracial churches in the south and the possible role of organized hate groups in those arsons.
