Social workers use the bio-psycho-social tool to communicate specific information, and possible conclusions, about a client to other professionals. It is, at once, a summary of current issues and problems; a listing of past factors that may be relevant to the current situation; and a description of potential issues that may have an effect on the client in the future. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will look at the major historical, ideological, legal, and professional themes that inform child welfare policy.
Issues including current legislation, history of child welfare, foster care, and adoption will be examined. In particular, we will focus on the social construction of mothering, of child neglect and of child abuse.
Contemporary policies and programs for populations disproportionately engaged with child welfare services including Aboriginal children, immigrant and refugee children, and children of single parents will be examined.
Students will be expected to engage in a process of integrating factors of gender, class, disability, race, culture and sexual orientation into their critical analysis of the ideological nature of Child Welfare.
This course does not teach you specifically how to become a worker in child protection, although we will discuss child protection, frameworks and issues of child protection work. Rather, it is intended to give you a perspective on the breadth and scope of Child Welfare work, and the issues that face workers in terms of policy, practice, ideology, and ethical issues. The course will be of interest to any students who will be working with children and families.

This course will look at the major historical, ideological, legal, and professional themes that inform child welfare policy.
Issues including current legislation, history of child welfare, foster care, and adoption will be examined. In particular, we will focus on the social construction of mothering, of child neglect and of child abuse.
Contemporary policies and programs for populations disproportionately engaged with child welfare services including Aboriginal children, immigrant and refugee children, and children of single parents will be examined.
Students will be expected to engage in a process of integrating factors of gender, class, disability, race, culture and sexual orientation into their critical analysis of the ideological nature of Child Welfare.
This course does not teach you specifically how to become a worker in child protection, although we will discuss child protection, frameworks and issues of child protection work. Rather, it is intended to give you a perspective on the breadth and scope of Child Welfare work, and the issues that face workers in terms of policy, practice, ideology, and ethical issues. The course will be of interest to any students who will be working with children and families.

Early adulthood, often referred to as young adulthood or emerging adulthood, is a period from 18 to 25 years, where the focus on relationships and career choice and success can become primary. Young adulthood is often understood by applying lifespan development theories that help in understanding social-emotional and career development issues that emerge in young adulthood. Examples are adult attachment theory, Holland's personality type theory linked to career development, Super's vocational self-concept stages, as well as Erikson's stage of identity development.
Middle adulthood, or
midlife
is a period where, according to developmental theory, there is evidence of growth, maintenance, and regulation of loss in various contexts such as family and work. Middle adulthood is often understood by applying lifespan development theories that help in understanding the cognitive and social development issues that emerge in midlife. Concepts of maintenance and loss as well and coping strategies linked to stress such as Hobfoll's theory of conservation of resources (COR) are often useful. Cognitive changes are often understood in terms of fluid and crystallized intelligence. Social development is often understood in terms of Erikson's concept of generativity.
Adulthood or
late
adulthood is a period when people move into their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, with various challenges and losses that can define developmental trajectories. Late adulthood is often understood by applying lifespan development theories that help in understanding the gains and losses that are hallmarks of this stage of adulthood, such as the lifespan theory developed by Baltes and colleagues.

The final project for this course is the creation of a grant proposal.
The assessment for this course will be the construction of a grant proposal that targets a current area of developmental, behavioral, or diagnostic need for
children or adolescents in your community. The final project represents an authentic demonstration of competency, because it requires you to apply concepts
from across the child and adolescent curriculum to compose an original grant proposal for a theoretically supported, age-specific, and effective intervention
program. Terms commonly used in grant proposals include problem identification, prevalence, assessment of resources, impact of the problem, and
implementation plan. The meaning of these grant terms is revealed in the critical elements listed in the prompt, in which you will be asked to devise a grant
proposal that one would submit in the field of psychology. Grant proposals could be submitted for funding for research, training, institutional upgrades,
nonprofit center grants, funding opportunities, grants for children’s programs, or grants for specific outreach programs such as engaging underrepresented

When you assess and treat adolescents, you must take into account developmental issues and environmental factors just as you do in interventions with children—the topic you addressed in Week 8. Adolescence is a turbulent period, as teens and pre-teens experience tremendous developmental changes cognitively, emotionally, and physically. At the same time, a host of environmental or outside influences affect the adolescent, including cultural practices, neighborhood and school interactions, friend groups and other social connections, and activities such as athletic and music programs. In addition, adolescents have personal characteristics that affect their ways of thinking and behavior such as their sexual orientation or disabilities.
As a clinical social worker, you need to look broadly for the important influences in the lives of your adolescent clients. For example, you may notice that a particular aspect of a client’s development appears delayed or overdeveloped. Or, as you interview your adolescent client, you may learn about environmental factors that may harm or support his or her personal development.

Introduction
This research paper will involve the reviewing of the issue of child abuse. Child abuse is an issues that has been happening in the society since the ancient times. However, in the modern world, the categorization and the definition of child abuse has changed. Definition of child abuse will involve the inclusion of the different forms of the abuse, common modes of child abuse and the interventions that can be used for addressing of the issues of child abuse. There are different reasons as to why the research study about child abuse is important in the current world, due to the fact that the gathering of data and information about child abuse will help in the devising of strategies and ways of addressing this crisis. According to reports by different organizations such as World Health Organization(WHO), most of the cases of child abuse can be avoided or even treated. Forms of child abuse such as physical, sexual, neglect and even emotional or psychological abuse can be prevented through understanding them.
Rationale for the selection of the topic of child abuse as a research paper is to pass information to the people about the adverse effects associated with child abuse, interventions which can be used for addressing the issue of child abuse and the possible reasons for the increase in the cases of child abuse in the modern world. Consequently, researching on this topic of child abuse helps in the minimization of cots that would have been incurred fostering care, counselling in the family as well medical care. Rationally, most people still have the mentality and perception that child abuse is characterized by the old definitions of working in farms and factories as well as plantations. However, in the current world, child abuse has been revolutionized as well. Issues of sexual abuse and exploitation, such as trafficking, rape and commercial sex are emerging issues in child abuse. Adverse effects of child abuse are normally evident due to the fact that some aspects of child abuse such as emotional hardly heal (Jud, Andreas, Jörg M. Fegert, and David Finkelhor, 17). Due to the fact that issues of child abuse have been ignored in the society, analysis and research on this issue will help in the addressing and handling of this issue.
Background
Different definitions and forms of child abuse have been suggested by both scholars and researchers. Basically, child abuse or even child maltreatment involves the previously identified forms, that is sexual, emotional, neglect and physical. Most of the countries have been sensitizing on the issue of child abuse, with these four notable forms of child abuse having penalties and custody depending on the seriousness of the case. Different perceptions and ideas have been presented with regard to corporal punishmen.

This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
