• NAU Ezra 10:11 "Now therefore, make confession to the
LORD God of your fathers and do His will; and separate
yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign
wives.”

together, let no man separate.”
• NAU Romans 11:1 I say then, God has not rejected His
people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a
descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Why Did God Choose Israel?
• NAU Deuteronomy 7:8 but because the LORD
loved you and kept the oath which He swore
to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out
by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the
house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh
king of Egypt.

• Isaiah 5:2 …planted it with the choicest vine.…

Israel The Choicest Vine
• By 700 BC God has blessed the Jews to this
point that they could be called “the choicest
vine.” Could it be that Solomon, the wisest
man ever, had spread his DNA through his
1000 wives to the result that Israel now has so
many of the worlds Nobel peace prize winners,
and the Jews have so many patents?

• Again, the absolute uniqueness of Israel is shown;
they are not to be compared with any other nation
in the world. Yet this small nation, surrounded by
hostile Arabs and terrorist organizations, is the only

20. Deuteronomy 7:7,
God Chose His Vineyard
• Isaiah 5:7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of
Israel And the men of Judah His delightful plant. Thus He
looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; For righteousness,
but behold, a cry of distress.
• In the midst of this passage concerning the coming judgments
on Israel, God still says that Israel is His Vineyard, and…
• NAU Isaiah 5:25 On this account the anger of the LORD has
burned against His people…
• Israel's unfaithfulness you'll never be able to make God
unfaithful, or break His promises.
• NAU Matthew 27:11…”Are You the King of the Jews?" And
Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."

God Keeps His Covenants
• NAU Deuteronomy 7:9 "Know therefore that the LORD
your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His
covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth
generation with those who love Him and keep His
commandments;
• Those who would say that God has eternally rejected
Israel are making God out to be unfaithful and a liar. God
has made many unilateral, unconditional, promises to
Israel which he will keep. The land is theirs forever. They
were denied peaceful possession of it as got also
promised. However they are back in the land and Isaiah
11:11-16 says they will remain there.

God Granted Abraham A Promise
• NAU Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were
spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not
say, "And to seeds," as referring to many, but
rather to one, "And to your seed," that is, Christ. 17
What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four
hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate
a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to
nullify the promise. 18 For if the inheritance is
based on law, it is no longer based on a promise;
but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a
promise. 23

failed…
 Rom 11:1… I ask then: Did God reject his people?
By no means!...
 Rom 11:11…Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to
fall beyond recovery? Not at all!...
 Rom 11:25-26…Israel has experienced a hardening
in part until the full number of the Gentiles has
come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is
written…
 Rom 11:28-30…they are loved on account of the
patriarchs, 29 for God's gifts and his call are
irrevocable….

Two Things, Covenant And Mercy
• NKJ Deuteronomy 7:12 "Then it shall come to
pass, because you listen to these judgments, and
keep and do them, that the LORD your God will
keep with you the covenant and the mercy which
He swore to your fathers.
• #1; The Abraham covenant is unconditional, but
• #2; the blessing, occupation, use, and possession
of the land is conditional.
• We will examine the two sides of this coin in
Deuteronomy chapter 28.

 This is a unilateral covenant because God
didn’t condition the promises upon anything

Fear Not, Even In Great Trials
• James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres
under trial; for once he has been approved, he
will receive the crown of life which the Lord has
promised to those who love Him.
• 1 Peter 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, even
though now for a little while, if necessary, you
have been distressed by various trials,
• Martin Luther said, “Before every great
opportunity God gave me a great trial.”

• NAU Deuteronomy 7:22…the wild beasts would grow too
numerous for you.
• Humans and wild animals are not brothers but adversaries, in
spite of what PETA says.
• NAU Hosea 2:12…the beasts of the field will devour them.
• NAU Leviticus 26:6-22 …’I will let loose among you the beasts
of the field, which will bereave you of your children and
destroy your cattle and reduce your number…
• Before the fall, things were different, and will be again during
the millennial kingdom…
• NAU Isaiah 11:6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And
the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf
and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy
will lead them.
