This document discusses a pilot project in Medellin, Colombia called "Despacio - equitable transport" that aimed to create a safer route for walking and biking to the World Urban Forum conference through community participation and road space reallocation. The project involved governmental agencies and the private sector working with community volunteers to paint the roads, add planters and flowers, and set up bike parking. It is estimated to have reduced CO2 emissions during the forum week while increasing equity, employment opportunities, and integration among different groups. The organizers reflected on whether the project achieved its goals of participation, equity, employment, inclusion, and co-benefits like health and road safety.

Yihui co-founded an NGO called SSEA (www.ssea-online.com), which promotes the use of sustainable energy and has held events in China and UK, for linking green technologies to business and government.

La charla fue sobre la bicicleta desde la perspectiva de la literatura de América Latina y otras partes del mundo, incluyendo los Países Bajos y utilizando un enfoque participativo y entretenido. Durante la charla, se hablan de varios autores que escriben sobre la bicicleta, incluyendo Marc Augé (francés), Julio Cortázar (argentino), Pablo Neruda (chileno) y Jon Day (británico). Despacio utilizó citas de estos autores (o citadas por ellos) en la Guía de ciclo-infraestructura para ciudades colombianas que Despacio produjo para el Ministerio de Transporte. En la charla, se presentarán estas citas, hablando de sus diferentes significados posibles y la relevancia que tienen para las políticas ciclo-inclusivas y el uso de la bicicleta en las ciudades en general. En otras palabras, intenta explicar la influencia que tiene el pensamiento literario-filosófico en la creación de ciudades más sostenibles y humanas. Artem Borodatyuk (Artem Borodatyuk), co-founder of the platform for social good, “Moy Gorod” shared his experience of launching an online platform in Odessa, Ukraine that gets citizens to create and implement projects to make their city more livable. He calls it a marketplace of social projects and civic activists.
Two years after the Maidan protests mobilized a country, Ukraine is going through big reforms at the top. What is happening on each block of each city? Are citizens engaged? How do you transform the drive of a revolution into the boring slog of day-to-day reforms? How do you do all that after decades of Soviet rule which encouraged inaction and a separation between the governed and those who govern?
Artem has tackled all these massive questions head on. He has launched an online crowdfunding and collaboration platform that citizens are using now to pick up garbage, to improve public phone booths, to find ways to cop with stray animals, and much more. Hear from this serial entrepreneur how his venture has over 1500 registered users and 8 live projects in less than half a year.

The growing necessity for the implementation of new financial schemes within the framework of ESI Funds is becoming more and more evident. At the same time, a more democratic, transparent and efficient allocation of such European resources continues to be a priority for the European Commission, as well as for regional authorities and citizens.
In this perspective, the European Crowdfunding Network would like to highlight some of the potential benefits that civic crowdfunding could provide, if coupled with ESI Funds and other resources. You can find our arguments in the attached white paper “The European Dimension of Civic Crowdfunding. The potential of crowdfunding for boosting economic and social effectiveness of European Structural and Investment Funds”.
The paper will serve as a basis for the creation of a Working Group of interested parties (both from the crowdfunding industry and from regional and local authorities) that will jointly analyse how of Crowdfunding can be integrated into ESI Funds as a match-funding mechanism. We firmly believe that, in order to have a stronger impact on European and national policy-makers, it is of paramount importance to gather a strong network of organisations that agree on the statements that we want to put forward.

Mariana Alegre de Lima Como Vamos presentó el proyecto Ocupa tu Calle que tiene el objetivo de recuperar espacios públicos utilizando materiales no convencionales como llantas usadas o madera.
Beatrice Ch'ng en ICLEI presentó la iniciativa EcoMobility, cuyo objetivo es priorizar los modos activos, el transporte público y otros modos innovadores con bajas emisiones de carbono de una manera conectada e integrada. En línea con esta visión, cada 2 años se organiza el EcoMobility World Festival donde se construye una zona libre de automóviles dentro de un barrio en el que se prioriza el transporte público y los modos activos.
WRI explicó que establecer límites de velocidad seguros para los usuarios de la carretera, promover y hacer cumplir los límites de velocidad, así como un diseño apropiado de la calle y la participación de la comunidad son acciones clave para promover una mejor seguridad vial.
