Main objective of the project was to design a machine which can be able to bend pipe of different material and size for a specific bend angle with the use of multiple bending dies of different sizes. As there are many pipe benders available in the industry but they are too costly and not affordable for small scale industries.

3. Abstract
• A pipe bending machine is a type of equipment that is used to
bend pipes and tubes into different shapes and angles. These
machines are commonly used in various industries such as
automotive, aerospace, construction, and manufacturing. The
main purpose of a pipe bending machine is to create bends in
pipes without causing any damage to the material.
• There are different types of pipe bending machines available in
the market, including manual, hydraulic, and electric machines.
Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages depending
on the application and the type of material being bent.
4. OBJECTIVES
A bend pipe with an OD of 0.5 cm and a thickness of 5 mm, a
bend curvature of 10 cm, and a bend angle ranging from 0 to
180 degrees should be able to be bent by the machine.
To prevent bend deformation.
Create a machine that is portable, cost-effective, and low
maintenance.
To increase bending speed in order to cut down on time and
labor-intensive manual labour to be taken into account, made
affordable, and made available to cottage industries and
unskilled labourers.

7. Working Principle
1. The machine receives the pipe and clamps it in place.
2. Around the pipe, where the bend will take place, are a number of pressures dies and rollers.
3. The rollers and pressure die in the machine exert pressure on the pipe as it is being dragged through,
bending it at the required angle.
4. The pressure dies and rollers support the pipe as it is bent in order to keep it from collapsing or wrinkled.
5. Up until the necessary bend angle is reached, the bending procedure is repeated.
6. After being freed from the machine, the bent pipe can subsequently be put to use.
8. Final specification:
• 500×500 frame
• 0.5 Hp motor 3phase
• Gear ratio 1/46
• Output rpm 25-30
• Frame angle 30×30
• Thickness 3mm
• Reverse forward switch button
• Pulley 2inch2nd pulley 19 inch
• Frame arc welding
• All material are Mild Steel
• Spray paint used
9. Calculations
• Calculation of force required to bend the pipe (Galvanized Pipe):
• Allowable bending stress 𝜎𝑎 = 300 𝑁/𝑚𝑚2
• For 0.5 inches galvanized pipe,
•
𝑀
𝐼
=
𝜎
𝑌
• Bending moment is given by,
𝑀 = 𝐹 × 𝐿
𝐹 =
(𝜎 × 𝐼)
𝐿 × 𝑌
𝐼 = 𝜋/64 (D4-d4)
• D = Outer diameter of 0.5 inches = 21.8 mm
• Thickness = 2.6 mm
10. 𝐼 =
𝜋
64
(D4- d4)
=
𝜋
64
(21.84-19.24)
= 𝟒𝟒𝟏𝟓. 𝟕𝟖 𝒎𝒎𝟒
Now,
𝑌 =
𝐷
2
=
21.8
2
= 10.9
Length of the pipe = 100mm
Therefore, force will be
𝐹 =
300 × 4415.8
10.9 × 100
= 𝟏𝟐𝟏𝟓. 𝟑 𝑵
