2. Egg blast off...
‘You challenge this term is to work in teams to design, build and
fire a rocket to carry an egg to the greatest height and safely
return the egg to earth again using a parachute.’
Each week we will be working on different tasks linked to our
overall challenge and there will be an awards ceremony just
before Christmas.
There will be prizes for:
• Greatest height achieved with egg returned in one piece!
• Most innovative design
• Greatest failure
3. Design time
Your challenge this week is to work in your teams to start
designing your rocket. Each team will receive the following
equipment to build their rockets:
• 2 empty coke bottles
• a bin bag and carrier bag
• foam for protecting your pilot
• cardboard for making fins or a nose cone
• string, tape and glue
• you may also request any special items for your design (within
reason!)
4. Design time
Your design should show -
1 How you are going to make your rocket travel straight
upwards
2 How you hope to make your rocket travel the highest
3 How you are going to deploy the parachute
4 How you are going to ensure your pilot comes down at a safe
speed
Please draw and annotate your designs as a group and
prepare a short presentation on how your rocket will work
– remember there will be an award for most novel design!

will be presenting your designs to and who will be asking you questions on your
designs*****
