Description Of A Beach Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of a beach can be both a delightful and challenging task. On the
surface, it might seem like a straightforward endeavor – after all, who doesn't appreciate the
beauty of a beach? However, delving beyond the obvious scenic elements to create a vivid and
engaging description requires a careful balance of creativity, sensory language, and a keen
observational eye.
The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of the beach in words, making the reader feel the
warmth of the sun on their skin, hearing the rhythmic lull of the waves, and smelling the salty
breeze. Striking this balance between vivid imagery and avoiding clichГ©s can be a fine line to
tread. It requires a writer to dig deep into their own experiences or imaginings, drawing upon
sensory details that transport the reader to the sandy shores.
Moreover, finding a unique angle or perspective is crucial to avoiding a generic portrayal.
Describing the beach can easily fall into overused tropes, and the challenge is to offer a fresh,
original perspective that resonates with the reader. This demands a degree of creativity and a
willingness to experiment with language to evoke the desired emotions.
Crafting an essay on a beach goes beyond merely listing what one might see; it involves creating
a sensory experience for the reader. It requires the ability to weave together the sights, sounds,
smells, and textures into a tapestry that elicits a strong emotional response. This task becomes
even more intricate when aiming to maintain a cohesive narrative flow.
In conclusion, while the topic of a beach essay might seem simple at first glance, the complexity
arises in the endeavor to transport the reader to that sun-soaked, sandy paradise through the
artful use of language. It necessitates a blend of creativity, observational skills, and the ability to
convey sensory experiences in a way that captivates the audience. Crafting such an essay can be
both challenging and rewarding, as it demands not only technical skill but also a deep connection
to the subject matter.

The Supreme Court s Court
The Supreme Court s ruling to allow same sex marriage has been a big change in
this country and a huge victory for the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and
Transexual) community. The ruling has changed millions of American s lives and
touched even more. In fact, my manager is a lesbian legally married and being
around them, for even a short amount of time, makes it obvious how happy they are
to be married.
As a religious man, I feel that it is unusual for me to support same sex marriage. Be
that as it may, after observing my manager with her wife and considering how many
other couples in the LGBT community could experience such happiness, there is no
way that I could agree with denying them the right to marry their loved ones. When I
assess the situation, it simply comes down to letting Americans live the lifestyle that
they desire (within rationality) and putting them in the best position to live happily. I
think equal opportunity marriage does that very well.
As big of a step in the right direction as equal opportunity marriage is for the LGBT
community, there is still more steps to take. They still have many social issues that
they have to deal with such as discrimination and a lack of acceptance from our fellow
Americans. Acceptance is always huge for a minority group and discrimination is
something that nobody wants to endure. The problem is that often, people don t
consider the negative effects that they have on others. A study was done on students

Menorca Research Paper
Because I follow the life and career of Tammy Gillis so closely, I was well aware of
her current film, Menorca. Being the indie film champion that I am, I did my
homework and discovered who the writer and director was John Barnard. Recently, I
had the opportunity to ask him a few questions about how he got started in the
business, his notable works, and even a hint at his upcoming works.

RH: What caused you to pursue a career in entertainment?

As one who has been devalued and ridiculed my entire life for not doing what my
peers deem as acceptable, I suppose I am consistently drawn to those who march to
the beat of a different drum. I admire John s outlook on film and the way he explores
stories in unique and unusual ways. Moreover, the fact that he recognizes the
value of being nice to everyone in the business and gleaning wisdom from the older
generation causes John to rise even higher in my estimation. For him, filmmaking
is a passion in which he tells a story in such a way that it causes the viewers to think
in an unconventional way. And in a society where conformity is king and cookie
cutter ideas are often lauded, his viewpoint is a breath of fresh air. While I have
not had the opportunity to view any of his works to date, this is one time when
reputation and what others say about a person carries a great deal of weight with
me. I say that if Tammy thinks he s a fantastic filmmaker, a stellar person, and a
true professional, that s enough of a recommendation for me. Furthermore, his
responses are authentic, humble, and certainly pragmatic. He has no grandiose
views of his self worth, and he comprehends the value of community and being a
team player. Therefore, I ask that all my readers consider visiting the links below
and even perchance following him on social media. Without indie filmmakers like
John, our movies choices would be quite limited in the cinema, and even if his films
are not necessarily your cup of tea, there is no denying that he is one of those
trailblazers who is continuing to find new ways of telling stories in the world of
entertainment. And for that, he has my eternal gratitude, and I hope that I will have
the opportunity to view one of his works very
Ethical Concerns Of Solitary Confinement
Ethical Concerns of Solitary Confinement
The Basis for a Flawed System: Solitary confinement is a more secure area within a
prison. It is intended to be a place where inmates go when they violate prison rules
or laws. This is only one of the three possible uses for confinement. Confinement is
also used to house mentally ill patients as well as pretrial individuals. Solitary
confinement is no longer necessary for society today due to the fact that the negative
effects of being placed in solitude outweigh the benefits that it provides for the prison
system as a whole. The concept of solitary confinement has been around for over
thirty years, and a system that has been around for so long has its flaws. Being placed
in solitude causes debilitating psychological effects. Researching through the ethical
lens shows that the United States relies much more heavily on the solitary
confinement system than many other countries. The United Nations has expressed
concern over the United States excessive use of confinement. A researcher through
Brandeis University found that the prison population in confinement in the United
Kingdom is .1%; whereas the United States places 1.8% of its prison population in
solitude. In Scandinavia, confinement is used sparingly. When it is implemented, it is
only used to temporarily house mentally well pretrial individuals who will initially be
sentenced to solitary confinement (Idalsky).
What Confinement Truly is: Many prisons argue that solitary
Role Of Sitcoms In The 1950s
Television sitcoms of the 1950 s through the 1990 s demonstrated the values and
structure of the American family by portraying stereotypes. Since television sets
became mainstream and entered almost every American home, the content of
American sitcoms has reflected the culture of the times. Thus, as the popular
American sitcoms of the 1950 s suggest, families living in the 1950 s were very
tightly grouped and did everything together with the roles of males and females
clearly defined. In the 1950 s, women did the house cleaning and child care and men
worked, providing for the family. In the sixties, women acquired more freedom in
their lives. The 1963 Equal Pay Act and the 1964 Civil Rights Act came into effect.

In modern day, women are equal to men and feminism is decreasing. Four sitcoms,
Leave It To Beaver, What s Happening, The Wonder Years, and Malcolm In The
Middle, portrayed the relationships and values of families during different decades.
First of all, most sitcoms in the 1950 s showed families with a traditional family
structure. It was referred to as a nuclear family, two parents and their children.
Divorce was not common. In the sitcom, Leave It to Beaver about a caucasian
family in the late fifties, the father was the dominant figure of the household and
the decision maker of the family. In the 1950 s, a woman usually did not make any
important decisions and was expected to have meals ready when her husband got
home. The entire family sat down together for dinner. Manners were important.
This was shown in Leave It To Beaver when children asked politely to be excused
from the table. Respect for adults was important. Wally stated, Older people do not
need a reason to be mean . It was understood that older people deserved respect
despite their behavior. The children were portrayed as well behaved. They were
expected to tell parents everything. The show emphasized the repercussions of being
dishonest when Beaver told his teacher
Reflection In Considering Stones
All our knowledge begins with the senses, proceeds then to the understanding, and
ends with reason. There is nothing higher than reason. There two ways of gaining
knowledge which are direct observation and reflection. Observation is a fundamental
way of finding out about the world around us. The key elements of learning through
observationare seeing and listening attentively to whatsoever one is observing.
Reflectionis replicating what one sees and listens while observing. It involves
describing everything you can see out of your window. Reflection involves linking a
current experience to previous learning s as reflecting on experiences encourages
insight and complex learning. We foster our own growth when we control our
learning, so some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marilyn Bisch is a keen observer and has reflected upon his observation insightfully.
The observation is set in Rome about an common artisan fixing cobblestones which
are placed in the stone buildings. The author was living a normal day. He had no
purpose in mind to observe anything in particular. While the author was walking on
the streets of Rome looking at the inscriptures and sculptures, sconces and
windowsills, he suddenly looked at the irregular cobblestones and then turned towards
the person who was fixing it and improving its shape. The author started seeing what
the artisan was doing. There was no communication that took place during the
observation. The author was listening attentively to the sound of the hammer. Having
observed, he realizes the true value of a common artisan. He wants to thank them as
they are the reason behind maintaining the beauty of Rome. The sound of the
hammer is like music to him now. Through this writing, the author has reflected upon
it really well. As by observing, learning has taken place. The author discovered and
learnt the unknown. He has given his opinions and ideas on his observation. He even
gained self knowledge and this observation encouraged him further to observe the
Political Philosophy And American Political Thought
I have applied to participate in the Hertog Summer Programs in Classical Political

passion inspired me to become commit to the Major in Government at Georgetown
University. A professor once gave me the following definition of politics as, the
resolution of conflict among the competing interests of individuals, groups, and or
nations. Therefore, the study of politics in my opinion is the study of how groups
reach consequential decisions and resolve internal conflicts. I am interested in many
dimensions of politics, but I have decided to apply to the Hertog Summer Programs
in Classical Political Theory and American Political Thought because of my interest
in the philosophical and theoretical dimensions of politics. As a participant in the
Hertog Summer Programs, I hope to take an intellectual journey with fellow young

The setting of the novel takes place largely in Europe. The story opens in the

Washington, D.C. also play lesser but important roles. The story ends in the upper
west side of Manhattan in New York City. Other parts of the world are alluded to as

III. Effectiveness/ Success of the Adaptation: It would be futile to compare this movie
with the book, as the movie ignores most of the plot in the book, only keeping the
element of an amnesiac agent. Although they share a name, The Bourne Identity by
Robert Ludlum and its movie adaptation have very little to nothing in common.
(see Fig 1.0) Compared side by side, the movie will hardly cover the first 3 chapters
of the book. The book describes a man who is found shot in the ocean without his
memory. He is saved by a couple of men and taken to a doctor on land who helps
him regain his strength and begin to remember his past. The man travels to Zurich
because of a negative found implanted in his body that leads to a bank. There, he is
ambushed by enemies he knows not, and with the help of an unwilling woman
named Marie St. Jacques he escapes. The man, whose name is discovered to be
Jason Bourne, and Marie fall in love and end up in Paris.

The Role Of A Middle Class Mother And Wife
Donna Stone portrayed the idealized role of a middle class mother and wife in during
the late 1950 s in The Donna Reed Show. She was always well dressed and put
together. She cooked and cleaned for her family and took care of the children. Flash
forward 60 years later and the present day reality of a middle class mother could not
be more different. From 1975 to 2009, the laborforce rate of mothers with children
18 years old and younger changed from 47.5 percent to 71.6 percent (Bianchi,
2011). The work and family policies, however, have failed to change with the times
are still very similar to what they were during the 1950 s (Blades Rowe Finkbeiner).
This is an issue because with more mothers entering the workplace with no... Show

It is reported that the average working parent in America misses five to nine days a
week due to issues with child care (Impact Brief One). Unfortunately it is difficult to
find affordable childcare that fits all of a families needs. One of the biggest stressors
and conflicts at home for families comes from trying to finance the necessary
childcare. Bianchi explains that for the majority of the working class in the
United States, family income is too high to earn government subsidized care, yet
not high enough to afford high quality care. For example, full time center care for
an infant in a center ranges from $4,863 to $16,430(Parents and the High Cost of
Child Care 2013 Report). In addition, working mothers also face the issue of the
family gap. Studies suggest that having a child decreases wages at ranges of 10%
to 15% (Simonsen Skipper). The wage gap between men and women has decreased
over the past few decades, but the wage gap between women with children and
women without keeps growing. A reason working mothers experience this family gap
is because the United States has not changed it s family policies regarding maternity
leave and childcare. The countries that have developed policies for maternity leave
and childcare have been more successful at closing the gender gap as well as the
family gap (Waldfogel, 1998). This creates paying for childcare an even bigger
burden and issue to solve.
The European countries follow completely

Still, they recognized that much hard work lay ahead, especially the creation of a
propulsion system. During the spring and summer of 1903, they were consumed with
leaping that final hurdle into history.
On December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made four brief flights at Kitty
Hawk with their first powered aircraft. The Wright brothers had invented the first
successful airplane.
On January 5, 1904, the Wright brothers made a statement to the Associated Press
regarding their Kitty Hawk flights. They gave an account of the events, and then in
closing affirmed that they had achieved their goal: We packed our goods and returned
home, knowing that the age of the flying machine had come at last.
However, the 1903 Flyer had only performed short, straight line flights. To
successfully market their invention, they had to demonstrate that it could turn and fly
over more commonplace terrain than the sandy open spaces of Kitty Hawk. With
this goal in mind, Wilbur and Orville refined their design with two more powered
aircraft in 1904 and

The Definition Of Being Tough
Many people have their different opinions on the definition of being tough. Whether
it s being physically, mentally, or emotionally tough. To me, in a way all of those

people hear the word tough they think, being strong, buff, or ripped. For instance
little children tend to say, I wanna grow up to be big and strong just like Daddy.

Criticism In Beauty And The Beast Analysis
Applying Deconstructive Criticism in Beauty and the Beast
The sweet, unselfish and loving daughter named Belle can be turned into someone
who we never thought when we re young that she can be.
According to Derrida (1960 s) Deconstruction is a method of reading which is based
on the assumption that language is unreliable. The goal of a deconstructionist reading
is to seek out the contradictions in the text to prove that the text lacks unity and
coherence. So in the story of Beauty and the Beast we are going to find out the things
that don t match with each other and the scenes that do not fit with the situations of
the characters.

readers to the characters of the story. Characters can be changed to become better or
The Master Of Suspense And Alfred Hitchcock
Brian De Palma, Sam Raimi, George A. Romero, Dario Argento, William Friedkin,
David Cronenberg, Quentin Tarantino, and Steven Spielberg all have two attributes
in common; the tactful use of suspense and Alfred Hitchcock. Each person in the
list above has, at one point, named Alfred Hitchcock as an influence for their works
(IMDb). Hitchcock has been known as, the master of suspense, throughout his
career and it shows, not only in the movies that he directed personally, but in the
movies of the other directors and producers who aspire to compare to him.
Hitchcock s auteur, or reoccurring themes within movies that can be traced back to a
director s life and personality to identify parts of him within his own movies include
themes such as: an icy blonde female character, personal disabilities and phobias of
the main (male) lead, the use of sound studios rather than a natural setting, and a
theme of mommy issues associated with the main character.
To further look into the auteur of Alfred Hitchcockwe must focus on a couple of
specific movies and we must know a little bit more about Hitchcock s life. The
movies, Vertigo and Rear Window are both the works of Hitchcock, and can both be
evaluated in order to find some reoccurring themes associated with this master of
suspense. Often, the first theme noticed about these movies is the dark plot and, you
guessed it, suspense. In Vertigo the movie begins with a literal cliffhanger, the main
character is left dangling off

CROSS BORDER MOBILE TRANSACTIONS
2.1 Introduction
This chapter discusses the conceptual framework governing cross border mobile
transaction taking into consideration all the players and stakeholders involved in the
transfer. It further expresses the role of the Bank of Tanzania and Central Bank of
Kenya in regulating National payment systems as well as the role played by Tanzania
Communication Regulatory Authority and Communication Authority of Kenya in

2.2 Cross Border Mobile Transfer and Stakeholders Involved
Cross border mobile enviroment has a number of stakeholder who ensutres the

The Importance Of The Extinction Of Bees
The bees are an essential part of our everyday lives here on earth. The extinction of
would mean the end of life as we know it. Extinction of bees=extinction of the
habitat destroying, globe warming, natural resource depleting humans. The bees
are critical pollinators: theypollinate 70 of the around 100 crop species that feed
90% of the world. So if we lose the bees, we may loseallof the plantsthat bees
pollinate, andallof the animalsthat eat those plants, it would affect the whole food
chain. So I m sure you re wondering why the bees are endangered and on the brink
of extinction, well as I said before, it has a lot to do with humans and habitat loss

What we have tried though consists of planting a variety of native flowering
plants in your garden. Bees tend to prefer pink, purple, and yellow flowers and
need food from early spring to late fall, leave grass, hay and old logs to provide
nesting habitat, support organic agriculture and refrain from using pesticides on your
property, don t worry about removing colonies on your property unless it is in a high
traffic area. An ecosystem is a biological community of interacting organisms and
their physical environment but bees ecosystems continue to be attacked through
urbanization and pesticides. A modest open space, untilled, will provide lots of
homes for many kinds of native bees. Not only are man made resources destroying
bee ecosystems, other factors play into the damage of their homes. Such as exotic
earthworms brought over through European origins these species may be
unintentionally introduced to new ecosystems due to shipments of food, household
goods, wood and wood products, new and used tires, animal and plant products,
containers, pallets, internal packaging materials and humans. Scientists also profile

I remember an old saying form a manager I had who would say, inspect what you
expect! We are tasked to ensure what we empower our workforce to accomplish is
completed the way we expect it to be done. However, if we do not adequately
communicate our expectations to the employee, than how will we be able to hold
them reliable for the job. Now, am I saying we should micro manage? Never! And i
m sure no body wants to spend time micro managing. What we do want to ensure
though is task completion and work from a decentralized form of management so the
employee doesn t get frustrated in their job. Bottom line, we empower people
everyday, the question is how much do we trust them?
Allow the employee to participate. We have that found the employees participation is
the best means to empower them not only in their job, but it gives them personal
satisfaction. Now, this can be somewhat dangerous because you never want to give
them an unchecked decision machine. As the section mention, you allow the
employee to participate in that decision and then a set limit of authority is transferred
to them for the project. We know, from experience that you must maintain that
channel of communication with the employee so to keep them on the right

Fast Fashion On Fast Food Industry
Slow Fashion
Fast fashion is a force that needs constant change from retailers; new garments and
new trends cycle out as fast as a bi weekly basis, putting pressure on the industry to
sell fast and cheap to the consumer. However, with the news publishing more articles
about the working conditions in factories, comparable to the Rana Plaza disaster in
Bangladesh, and the run off pollution these factories produce, the consumer is
demanding more transparency in the supply chain. The introduction to slow fashion
came from this demand of wanting a better understanding of the garments we wear,
similar to the slow food movement that surfaced from the fast food industry. The slow
food movement began in Italy in the 1980s as a reaction to the ... Show more content

Slowing down the consumption that is encouraged by fast fashion will help reduce
raw materials and decrease fashion production, allowing the earth time to regenerate
and heal from the damage industry creates to the environment (1B). Linda Greer, a
senior scientist at the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council, believes that the
slow fashion movement will hold large retailers accountable for its manufacturing
aboard. Clean by Design is a program created by the NRDC that works with retailers
to green the fashion supply chain (4B). These types of programs will assist with the
large companies meeting the needs of the new movement of ethical consumerism
where consumers are demanding that the clothes they buy do not harm the
environment or the workers who made them (11B, pg.200).
Another aspect of the slow fashion movement is supporting the development of
local businesses by focusing on using local resources and materials, these
companies take the claim of slow and put it into practice by creating high quality
and durable pieces with attentiveness in an environmental way (1B). Many small
businesses keep traditional methods of garment and textile making, giving meaning

Persuasive Essay On Michelle Obama
The one leader s commitment to the field of healthcare I would estimate on is

Three Brothers, the Baker, and the Bear A long, long, time ago in a far away land
lived three brothers, Alexander, Eliot, and Janik. The brothers lived poorly with
their old parents in a village named Augusta. One chilly evening, the boys father
requested his sons go out to gather firewood and search for berries. Alexander, the
youngest, went on a search for twigs and branches as ordered, while Eliot and Janik
ran ahead in a search for food. Five minutes from their home resides the nearest

Dr. Tom Schweizer, a neuroscientist in St. Michael Hospital in Canada studied the

were monolingual and half were bilingual. Using CT scans and cognitive evaluation
he found that even though bilingual patients showed twice as much atrophy, they
performed as well in the cognitive test as their monolingual counterparts with less
atrophy. This may be explained by the fact that bilingual individuals have developed
enhanced neural networks or pathways, also called neural reserve, when switching
from one language to another or suppressing one language from another. Dr.

Conflict resolution in the workplace
Conflict resolution in the workplace Introduction Conflict is a fact in any
relationship including the work area. Still, it is important to emphasize that some
conflicts should not be seen as good or bad, they are just differences. Many times
when there are disagreements between players these issues are left on the table
without giving much emphasis. Unfortunately some of these conflicts have reached a
level that ends in a physical altercation. When things get out of proportion, the sports
psychologist is called in to intervene as a third party to mediate the situation. This
process can take weeks. This paper attempts to raise awareness to owners of The

Now, I stress the fact that these conflicts can happen between teammates, managers
to players and vice versa, or between managers and coaches. Unsolved, or
unsatisfactorily resolved conflicts perceived by one or all parties in the situation can
lead to worse consequences, (Jehn, Rupert, Nauta, 2006).
Conflicts do not always come to light immediately because parties will intent to use
mechanisms to deal or solve them. These mechanisms are not always the most
appropriate. A manager o coach that becomes aware of something going wrong with
their team should pay attention and try to solve it before it escalates to another level,
(Fisher Santana Gonzalez, (2013). Addressing a conflict as soon as possible does not
mean to be made lightly or quickly. Individuals serving as mediators must be
impartial, show true interest between the parties, and above all be prepared in the
area of conflict resolution. A mediator should never favor any party, (Montgomery,
1995). Studies related to the perception of asymmetry (inequity or favoritism) in the
process of settlement of conflict demonstrate that this can lead to absenteeism, lack of
motivation and job dissatisfaction after the resolution, (Jehn et al., 2006).

Bipolar 1 disorder is when an individual has manic episodes that last at least 7 days
with manic symptoms that are so severe that the person sometimes needs immediate
hospital care. Depressive episodes occur as well, typically lasting at least 2 weeks.
Episodes of depression with mixed features, having depression and manic symptoms
at the same time, are also possible. Individuals with this form of bipolar experience
the most dramatic transitions from mania to depression, and mood swings can be
sudden and severe. The level of functional impairment is high with this form of the
disorder, and many of these individuals must be hospitalized in order to protect
their safety. Bipolar 2 disorder is when there is a pattern of depressive episodes and
hypomanic episodes. This type of bipolar is characterized by less severe variations
between emotional states. Depressive episodes may last longer and alternate with
periods of hypomania, a milder form of mania. While it may be easier to function
with this less severe form of the disorder, bipolar II can nevertheless interfere with
normal activities and cause functional impairment just like Bipolar 1 but it is less
severe. Cyclothymic Disorder is when a person has numerous periods of
hypomanic symptoms as well numerous periods of depressive symptoms lasting
for at least 2 years (1 year in children and adolescents). However, the symptoms do
not meet the diagnostic requirements for a hypomanic episode and a depressive
episode. Episodes of depression are generally not as long or as profound as they
are with bipolar I or II. Bipolar with mixed features is when someone experiences
symptoms of mania and depression at the same time. For example, the individual
may have elevated energy levels, sleeplessness, and appetite loss combined with

Argumentative Essay On Bullfighting In Spain
Bullfighting has existed for thousands of years and it has been popular in Spain for
nearly a millennium. Its cultural, economic and social impact to the Spanish culture
is undeniable, but it is a theme that has encountered a very heated debate over the
past years. Anti taurine claim that bullfighting is indecent, unnecessary and barbaric,
but their arguments are often unsubstantiated. The aggressive and bloody nature of
this spectacle has always created extreme positioning among people on whether being
in favor or not.
I saw my first ever corrida in the ВґВґValenciaВґs Plaza de TorosВґВґ back in 2008
and was immediately smitten. The crowd, the blood and the spectacle that bullfighting
proposes does not leave anybody indifferent and I wasnВґt the exception. I didnВґt

lived in Spain for nearly 16 years and that was the only time I went in my life.

Bullfighting is an art, and the ВґВґtoreroВґВґ (the person that outmaneuver and

Moreover, it is considered that the closer the bullВґs horns get to the ВґВґtoreroВґВґ,

This paper posits to discuss in detail the impact of Gandhi and his style of
mobilization on the policies and culture of the Indian Subcontinent. Mahatma Gandhi,
(1869 1948), was born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in Porbandar, Gujarat, in
North West India. His father was an administrator in Porbandar, while his mother was
a devout religious personality. Mahatma Gandhi is generally regarded to be the
Father of the modern Indian nation, on account of his role in shaping its modern
history. Gandhi, an accomplished lawyer and human rights campaigner, initially in
South Africa, made his debut into the Indian political scene in 1915. As the foremost
leader in the Indian independence movement, Gandhi acquired international repute,
and his policy of peaceful civil resistance has over the decades offered inspiration for
political movements, and civil rights campaigns across the globe. In addition to
developing non violent strategies for political struggle, he influenced the Indian
regeneration program that spearheaded the struggle for Indian independence.
Gandhi s philosophy of non violence resistance transcended every other attribute of
his vision concerning the Indian subcontinent, including the Indian regeneration
program. This program entailed diverse interrelated strategies that are considered to

Analysis Of The Book The Mayflower Richard Warren
My father believes, without much doubt, that we are ethnically American.
He is a liberal democrat originally from Brockton, Massachusetts. There, he grew up
on Curtis Street, which was named for my grandfather and great uncles after they
served in World War II. He moved to Waterbury, Connecticut when he was a
teenager, but I think the time he spent living on a street that he shares a name with
has shaped how he envisions himself in society. He likes to boast that our family
descends from one of the original voyagers on the Mayflower Richard Warren. I
am not sure if this is true, but my father has no reservations. Once, when he was
flipping through one of the American history books he loves to read after he gets
home from work, he found Warren s name listed in the back of the index. With
boyish excitement, he showed me the book as if it were proof of something
profound. I think, now, seeing his ancestor s name printed in a published book
verified his family s American ness. We were here first, he seemed to think.
I grew up thinking of my family as quintessentially American. My parents married,

Accompanied with the current shift towards more organic organisation structures and
more emphasis on the learning organisation, mentoring provides a more all round
experience to the mentees by getting them confident with their role with the
organisation. It also improves communication throughout the organisation by
allowing mentees to give feedback and learn in a not so formal fashion which helps
people feel more relaxed and develops the formal and informal culture of the
organisation.
From the organisations standpoint mentoring is a cost effective way of training and
developing new staff, and it helps retain existing staff by giving them more
responsibility. It is argued that with the underlying causes behind facilitated
mentoring lying in cost effectiveness, does this underlying tenet prevent a real
chemistry existing between the mentor and the mentee.
This is not necessarily the case in all organisations, the Metropolitan police force (a
non profit organisation) have recognised the need for mentoring and have
incorporated it both internally and externally to assist them in their day to day work.
The Metropolitan Police have started a mentoring scheme for young ethnic officers
by pairing them with a mentor from the same background, to help them get prepared
for the job and also to act as counselors and to deal with any reservations they may
have about joining the force. This type of mentoring scheme is based more around
relationship forming and
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wordpress
WordPress can handle just about any kind of website small and large. eBay,
Mozilla, CNN, Google Ventures, and even NASA use WordPress. ChutingStar
Skydiving used WordPress to build the website because it is instantly responsive
to work on both mobiles and tablets. Another advantage to using WordPress was

The guide is not only platform specific using WordPress, but constantly up to date
so it s not misleading to the user, and very detailed and easy to follow. A websitecan
be built with three simple steps: choosing a website building platform, finding a
domain name and host, and last setting up the website (Mening, 2017). Finding
ways to optimize ChutingStar Skydiving website to attract new customers was not
so much of a challenge from start. Google is one of the most popular search
engines also has a wide variety of services, tools, and advertising avenues that
every online entrepreneur should know about. Advertising with Google to help
promote a new business makes it easy to attract potential customers. With more
than 81.9 million unique visitors each month, Google.com is a huge source of
potential traffic for online business advertising (Gehl, 2005). To use Google s free
advertising heavy emphasis on the right key words was used for ChutingStar

words on the website increases the link popularity when potential customers do a

Happy New Year Essay
Happy New Year! May you have real peace of mind, lasting joy and steadfast love of
family and friends the whole year through and many more years to come!
Many people like to count down to welcome the New Year, but I have stopped
attending countdown parties for years and always wonder why people love the
countdown. Maybe it is the euphoria that drinks and partying bring; maybe it is the
kindred spirits, goodwill and companionship; maybe it is the opportunity to start
afresh and set goals not attained in the previous years. Whatever the reason, the New
Yearseems to be a time that gives us high hopes and aspirations, a time to ponder a
time to endeavour.
It seems ironic, however, that we never want to count down the days of our life.
Many of us live as if we will live forever whereas the harsh reality is that most of us
are going to expire by 100 years, which is 36,500 days and 52,560,000 minutes. 52

Incongruously, we don t apply the same attitude to our daily life. We may have to
toil in the workplace for many hours, but many of us also spend hours doing things
that don t really yield any real satisfaction excessive hours of electronic games or

name a few. Maybe we should ask ourselves if these things really matter to us if our

Magnetic Resonance Imaging For The Diagnosis Of
Chordoma
Magnetic Resonance Imaging for the Diagnosis of Chordoma Chordoma is a type
of malignant tumor that can form at the base of the skull, within the spine and
sacral area. This kind of cancer is rare, accounting for 1 4% of bone cancers
overall. According to studies by the Surveillanc, Epidemiology, and End Results
database, the incidence rate of this disease is 0.08 per 100,000 and is more
prevalent in men between the ages of 50 60 (Walcott et al, 69). The characteristics
of chordoma were first described by Virchow in 1857. He termed them as
physaliferous, or having intracellular, bubble like vacuoles (Walcott et al, 69), which
became this disease s most distinguishing trait. Chordoma is thought to develop from

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) one of the primary imaging modalities used
to evaluate and diagnose chordoma. While MRI is done in conjunction with other
modalities like computed tomography (CT) to obtain data, studies have shown that
there are advantages to MRI not seen in CT. One of them is using diffusion
weighted MRI to assess and differentiate chordoma from other cranial tumors that
have overlapping presentations and anatomic imaging features such as
chondrosarcoma (Yeom et al, 1056). Diffusion weighted MRI uses the motion of
particles in fluid within voxels to measure cellular density and the nuclear to
cytoplasmic ratio. In a study, Dr. Kristen Yeom and colleagues examined patients
with the following parameters: TR/TE, 8300/70 ms at 1.5T and 10,000/80 ms at
3T, b=1000 s/mm2, three directions, 4 to 5 mm thickness, 0 skip (Yeom et al,
1059). They looked at the data for Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC), which
differed for the types of tumors; low ADC signifies abnormal diffusion restriction.
The results yielded that classic chordoma had lower ADC values averaging 1460x10
6 mm2/s than chondrosarcoma s 1977x10 6 mm2/s. Although researchers would be
unlikely to distinguish chordoma and chondrosarcoma on the basis of signal
intensity characteristics of T1 and T2 images, there are still uses for them (Oot el al,
568). In MRI scanning, T1 and T2 weighted images provide different

What Is The Gold Tower Essay
The Golden tower is one of the most photographed attractions in Seville, situated in
Andalusia, the northern part of Spain.
You can stroll along the river front of the Guadaquivir River until you reach the
impressive 36 meters high watchtower. It does not offer only an interesting history,
but it is also situated in the heart of the city, right next to the Triana neighbourhood.

Thanks in great part to its green image British company Body Shop has prospered
in the 80s. In the 90s the firm tried to increase its world visibility linking its image
to Brazil s rainforest and approaching the Brazilian Kayapo Indians with a program
they called `Trade Not Aid. The association generated a barrage of free and
laudatory media stories about the activities of Body Shop. More recently however
this image has been bruised. Is the Body Shop social conscience just a sham?
Saulo Petean*
Body Shop s much vaunted `Trade Not Aid policy with indigenous peoples is running
into serious problems in the Amazon where it sources Brazil nut oil for one of its best
selling beauty products.

Of this, $100,000 went toward the purchase of a used aircraft and initial expenses.
The rest of the money was never accounted for. In 92 and 93, Gordon Roddick, Anita
s husband and BSI s executive director, brought four Body Shop country head
franchisers to the Indian communities, charging them $25,000 each. Again, the
Indians never saw any of this money.
After one of Anita Roddick s earliest visits, she announced that Body Shop would
extend the project to other Mebengokre villages. They began competing for Body
Shop s favor, which strained relations among the traditionally egalitarian culture.
Roddick and Body Shop never made good on their promise.
In the meantime, Body Shop began heavily promoting its links to the Kayapo. It
announced what it called the first ever intellectual property rights agreement.
However, the Kayapo had agreed to nothing. In 1993, a group of 30 Kayapo chiefs
were hastily called by Gordon Roddick to a meeting in BrasГlia, capital of Brazil.
The chiefs happily believed that Body Shop was at last going to make good on its
promise to expand purchases of nut oil. What they did not know was that Body Shop
had recently gotten word that the press was about to report that it had never reached
an intellectual property rights agreement with the Kayapo. The chiefs were stunned
and frustrated when it became clear that Body Shop was trying to get the chiefs to
legitimize the agreement, which still had not been negotiated.

Rock And A Hard Place Theme
What drives a human to go beyond their physical capabilities? In the book Between
a Rock and a Hard Place is an autobiography of Aron Ralston life stories of troubles
and triumphs. The main themes displayed in the book are the will to survive and
to follow passions in a person s life. The themes are brought out through a
dangerous entrapment of being stuck by a boulder in the desert for several days.
Aron Ralston s incident brought repercussions and blessings in his life. Aron has
affected not only himself, but society also as told in the public s review of Aron
Ralston s book Between a Rock And a Hard Place. Aron Ralston was very active in
the outdoors, and over time began to find an appreciation for nature. For instance, in

As I continued reading, the story peaked my interest with Aron being trapped with
little food and water. The book became hard to put down, but gruesome at the same
time, because of Aron s descriptive writing about him cutting off his own arm with
a pocket knife; which made me curl up and wince the whole time. Even though I
wasn t excited about reading a nonfiction book, I began to enjoy reading the book.
When finished with the publication, the main message I got from Aron s book is to
follow what means most to an individual. The book improved my mindset of making
the best of any circumstance, and to enjoy life to the
Medea And Agamemnon Research Paper
The Greek tragedies Medea by Euripides and Agamemnon share similar character
traits displayed through Medea and Clytemnestra which ultimately lead to their own
downfall. Clytemnestra slaughtered her own husband and his foreign concubine
seeing vengeance towards her husband Agamemnon for sacrificing their daughter.
Medeapoisoned King Creon, a princess, and murdered her own children to seek
justifiable revenge against Jason; her husband. Both women are seen to resemble
strength and power. The two women portray a behavior unlike any other woman of
their time period which ultimately leads to their downfall. The two plays both
exemplify similar characteristics such as the role of women, passion/power, and
vengeance.

of Iphigenia, Clytemnestra it is only right to serve justice upon her daughters
behalf and feels she treated her husband the same way he did his deities.
Clytemnestra is a very deceptive character. She despises being regarded or treated
as a woman, yet is able to make advancements using her femininity. She is known as
the woman [that] maneuvers like a man (13). Men were known to fear women who
embodied masculine tendencies. The traits were regarded as unnatural during the
ancient times. Clytemnestra was enraged about the fact she did not have the same
regard as men. This put her on the edge to deny her femininity and overcome the
men that surround her in order to gain masculine powers. Medea, on the other hand
accepted that she was indeed a woman, but crossed the line of her feminine
limitations set by ancient Greek times. She did this to prove she possessed more

Description Of A Beach Essay

  • 1. Description Of A Beach Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of a beach can be both a delightful and challenging task. On the surface, it might seem like a straightforward endeavor – after all, who doesn't appreciate the beauty of a beach? However, delving beyond the obvious scenic elements to create a vivid and engaging description requires a careful balance of creativity, sensory language, and a keen observational eye. The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of the beach in words, making the reader feel the warmth of the sun on their skin, hearing the rhythmic lull of the waves, and smelling the salty breeze. Striking this balance between vivid imagery and avoiding clichГ©s can be a fine line to tread. It requires a writer to dig deep into their own experiences or imaginings, drawing upon sensory details that transport the reader to the sandy shores. Moreover, finding a unique angle or perspective is crucial to avoiding a generic portrayal. Describing the beach can easily fall into overused tropes, and the challenge is to offer a fresh, original perspective that resonates with the reader. This demands a degree of creativity and a willingness to experiment with language to evoke the desired emotions. Crafting an essay on a beach goes beyond merely listing what one might see; it involves creating a sensory experience for the reader. It requires the ability to weave together the sights, sounds, smells, and textures into a tapestry that elicits a strong emotional response. This task becomes even more intricate when aiming to maintain a cohesive narrative flow. In conclusion, while the topic of a beach essay might seem simple at first glance, the complexity arises in the endeavor to transport the reader to that sun-soaked, sandy paradise through the artful use of language. It necessitates a blend of creativity, observational skills, and the ability to convey sensory experiences in a way that captivates the audience. Crafting such an essay can be both challenging and rewarding, as it demands not only technical skill but also a deep connection to the subject matter. • 3. The Supreme Court s Court The Supreme Court s ruling to allow same sex marriage has been a big change in this country and a huge victory for the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transexual) community. The ruling has changed millions of American s lives and touched even more. In fact, my manager is a lesbian legally married and being around them, for even a short amount of time, makes it obvious how happy they are to be married. As a religious man, I feel that it is unusual for me to support same sex marriage. Be that as it may, after observing my manager with her wife and considering how many other couples in the LGBT community could experience such happiness, there is no way that I could agree with denying them the right to marry their loved ones. When I assess the situation, it simply comes down to letting Americans live the lifestyle that they desire (within rationality) and putting them in the best position to live happily. I think equal opportunity marriage does that very well. As big of a step in the right direction as equal opportunity marriage is for the LGBT community, there is still more steps to take. They still have many social issues that they have to deal with such as discrimination and a lack of acceptance from our fellow Americans. Acceptance is always huge for a minority group and discrimination is something that nobody wants to endure. The problem is that often, people don t consider the negative effects that they have on others. A study was done on students in 2009 on the
  • 4. Menorca Research Paper Because I follow the life and career of Tammy Gillis so closely, I was well aware of her current film, Menorca. Being the indie film champion that I am, I did my homework and discovered who the writer and director was John Barnard. Recently, I had the opportunity to ask him a few questions about how he got started in the business, his notable works, and even a hint at his upcoming works. Photo Credit: Steven K. Johnson RH: What caused you to pursue a career in entertainment? JB: For me, filmmaking began with picking up a friend s camcorder the first time and simply starting to make movies. As one who has been devalued and ridiculed my entire life for not doing what my peers deem as acceptable, I suppose I am consistently drawn to those who march to the beat of a different drum. I admire John s outlook on film and the way he explores stories in unique and unusual ways. Moreover, the fact that he recognizes the value of being nice to everyone in the business and gleaning wisdom from the older generation causes John to rise even higher in my estimation. For him, filmmaking is a passion in which he tells a story in such a way that it causes the viewers to think in an unconventional way. And in a society where conformity is king and cookie cutter ideas are often lauded, his viewpoint is a breath of fresh air. While I have not had the opportunity to view any of his works to date, this is one time when reputation and what others say about a person carries a great deal of weight with me. I say that if Tammy thinks he s a fantastic filmmaker, a stellar person, and a true professional, that s enough of a recommendation for me. Furthermore, his responses are authentic, humble, and certainly pragmatic. He has no grandiose views of his self worth, and he comprehends the value of community and being a team player. Therefore, I ask that all my readers consider visiting the links below and even perchance following him on social media. Without indie filmmakers like John, our movies choices would be quite limited in the cinema, and even if his films are not necessarily your cup of tea, there is no denying that he is one of those trailblazers who is continuing to find new ways of telling stories in the world of entertainment. And for that, he has my eternal gratitude, and I hope that I will have the opportunity to view one of his works very
  • 5. Ethical Concerns Of Solitary Confinement Ethical Concerns of Solitary Confinement The Basis for a Flawed System: Solitary confinement is a more secure area within a prison. It is intended to be a place where inmates go when they violate prison rules or laws. This is only one of the three possible uses for confinement. Confinement is also used to house mentally ill patients as well as pretrial individuals. Solitary confinement is no longer necessary for society today due to the fact that the negative effects of being placed in solitude outweigh the benefits that it provides for the prison system as a whole. The concept of solitary confinement has been around for over thirty years, and a system that has been around for so long has its flaws. Being placed in solitude causes debilitating psychological effects. Researching through the ethical lens shows that the United States relies much more heavily on the solitary confinement system than many other countries. The United Nations has expressed concern over the United States excessive use of confinement. A researcher through Brandeis University found that the prison population in confinement in the United Kingdom is .1%; whereas the United States places 1.8% of its prison population in solitude. In Scandinavia, confinement is used sparingly. When it is implemented, it is only used to temporarily house mentally well pretrial individuals who will initially be sentenced to solitary confinement (Idalsky). What Confinement Truly is: Many prisons argue that solitary
  • 6. Role Of Sitcoms In The 1950s Television sitcoms of the 1950 s through the 1990 s demonstrated the values and structure of the American family by portraying stereotypes. Since television sets became mainstream and entered almost every American home, the content of American sitcoms has reflected the culture of the times. Thus, as the popular American sitcoms of the 1950 s suggest, families living in the 1950 s were very tightly grouped and did everything together with the roles of males and females clearly defined. In the 1950 s, women did the house cleaning and child care and men worked, providing for the family. In the sixties, women acquired more freedom in their lives. In the sitcom, Leave It to Beaver about a caucasian family in the late fifties, the father was the dominant figure of the household and the decision maker of the family. In the 1950 s, a woman usually did not make any important decisions and was expected to have meals ready when her husband got home. The entire family sat down together for dinner. Manners were important. This was shown in Leave It To Beaver when children asked politely to be excused from the table. Respect for adults was important. Wally stated, Older people do not need a reason to be mean . It was understood that older people deserved respect despite their behavior. The children were portrayed as well behaved. They were expected to tell parents everything. The show emphasized the repercussions of being dishonest when Beaver told his teacher

It is reported that the average working parent in America misses five to nine days a week due to issues with child care (Impact Brief One). Unfortunately it is difficult to find affordable childcare that fits all of a families needs. One of the biggest stressors and conflicts at home for families comes from trying to finance the necessary childcare. Bianchi explains that for the majority of the working class in the United States, family income is too high to earn government subsidized care, yet not high enough to afford high quality care. For example, full time center care for an infant in a center ranges from $4,863 to $16,430(Parents and the High Cost of Child Care 2013 Report). In addition, working mothers also face the issue of the family gap. Studies suggest that having a child decreases wages at ranges of 10% to 15% (Simonsen Skipper). The wage gap between men and women has decreased over the past few decades, but the wage gap between women with children and women without keeps growing. A reason working mothers experience this family gap is because the United States has not changed it s family policies regarding maternity leave and childcare. The countries that have developed policies for maternity leave and childcare have been more successful at closing the gender gap as well as the family gap (Waldfogel, 1998). This creates paying for childcare an even bigger burden and issue to solve. The European countries follow completely

Each person in the list above has, at one point, named Alfred Hitchcock as an influence for their works (IMDb). Hitchcock has been known as, the master of suspense, throughout his career and it shows, not only in the movies that he directed personally, but in the movies of the other directors and producers who aspire to compare to him. Hitchcock s auteur, or reoccurring themes within movies that can be traced back to a director s life and personality to identify parts of him within his own movies include themes such as: an icy blonde female character, personal disabilities and phobias of the main (male) lead, the use of sound studios rather than a natural setting, and a theme of mommy issues associated with the main character. Unsolved, or unsatisfactorily resolved conflicts perceived by one or all parties in the situation can lead to worse consequences, (Jehn, Rupert, Nauta, 2006). Conflicts do not always come to light immediately because parties will intent to use mechanisms to deal or solve them. These mechanisms are not always the most appropriate. A manager o coach that becomes aware of something going wrong with their team should pay attention and try to solve it before it escalates to another level, (Fisher Santana Gonzalez, (2013). Addressing a conflict as soon as possible does not mean to be made lightly or quickly. Individuals serving as mediators must be impartial, show true interest between the parties, and above all be prepared in the area of conflict resolution. It also improves communication throughout the organisation by allowing mentees to give feedback and learn in a not so formal fashion which helps people feel more relaxed and develops the formal and informal culture of the organisation. From the organisations standpoint mentoring is a cost effective way of training and developing new staff, and it helps retain existing staff by giving them more responsibility. It is argued that with the underlying causes behind facilitated mentoring lying in cost effectiveness, does this underlying tenet prevent a real chemistry existing between the mentor and the mentee. This is not necessarily the case in all organisations, the Metropolitan police force (a non profit organisation) have recognised the need for mentoring and have incorporated it both internally and externally to assist them in their day to day work. The Metropolitan Police have started a mentoring scheme for young ethnic officers by pairing them with a mentor from the same background, to help them get prepared for the job and also to act as counselors and to deal with any reservations they may have about joining the force. This type of mentoring scheme is based more around relationship forming and

  • 42. Happy New Year Essay Happy New Year! May you have real peace of mind, lasting joy and steadfast love of family and friends the whole year through and many more years to come! Many people like to count down to welcome the New Year, but I have stopped attending countdown parties for years and always wonder why people love the countdown. Maybe it is the euphoria that drinks and partying bring; maybe it is the kindred spirits, goodwill and companionship; maybe it is the opportunity to start afresh and set goals not attained in the previous years. Whatever the reason, the New Yearseems to be a time that gives us high hopes and aspirations, a time to ponder a time to endeavour. It seems ironic, however, that we never want to count down the days of our life. Many of us live as if we will live forever whereas the harsh reality is that most of us are going to expire by 100 years, which is 36,500 days and 52,560,000 minutes. 52 million seems a big but still a finite number, and as I get older, I have ... • 43. Magnetic Resonance Imaging For The Diagnosis Of Chordoma Magnetic Resonance Imaging for the Diagnosis of Chordoma Chordoma is a type of malignant tumor that can form at the base of the skull, within the spine and sacral area. This kind of cancer is rare, accounting for 1 4% of bone cancers overall. According to studies by the Surveillanc, Epidemiology, and End Results database, the incidence rate of this disease is 0.08 per 100,000 and is more prevalent in men between the ages of 50 60 (Walcott et al, 69). The characteristics of chordoma were first described by Virchow in 1857. He termed them as physaliferous, or having intracellular, bubble like vacuoles (Walcott et al, 69), which became this disease s most distinguishing trait. Chordoma is thought to develop from the residue of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) one of the primary imaging modalities used to evaluate and diagnose chordoma. While MRI is done in conjunction with other modalities like computed tomography (CT) to obtain data, studies have shown that there are advantages to MRI not seen in CT. One of them is using diffusion weighted MRI to assess and differentiate chordoma from other cranial tumors that have overlapping presentations and anatomic imaging features such as chondrosarcoma (Yeom et al, 1056). Diffusion weighted MRI uses the motion of particles in fluid within voxels to measure cellular density and the nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio. In a study, Dr. Kristen Yeom and colleagues examined patients with the following parameters: TR/TE, 8300/70 ms at 1.5T and 10,000/80 ms at 3T, b=1000 s/mm2, three directions, 4 to 5 mm thickness, 0 skip (Yeom et al, 1059). They looked at the data for Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC), which differed for the types of tumors; low ADC signifies abnormal diffusion restriction. The results yielded that classic chordoma had lower ADC values averaging 1460x10 6 mm2/s than chondrosarcoma s 1977x10 6 mm2/s. Although researchers would be unlikely to distinguish chordoma and chondrosarcoma on the basis of signal intensity characteristics of T1 and T2 images, there are still uses for them (Oot el al, 568). In MRI scanning, T1 and T2 weighted images provide different

In 92 and 93, Gordon Roddick, Anita s husband and BSI s executive director, brought four Body Shop country head franchisers to the Indian communities, charging them $25,000 each. Again, the Indians never saw any of this money. After one of Anita Roddick s earliest visits, she announced that Body Shop would extend the project to other Mebengokre villages. They began competing for Body Shop s favor, which strained relations among the traditionally egalitarian culture. Roddick and Body Shop never made good on their promise. In the meantime, Body Shop began heavily promoting its links to the Kayapo. It announced what it called the first ever intellectual property rights agreement. However, the Kayapo had agreed to nothing. In 1993, a group of 30 Kayapo chiefs were hastily called by Gordon Roddick to a meeting in BrasГlia, capital of Brazil. The chiefs happily believed that Body Shop was at last going to make good on its promise to expand purchases of nut oil. What they did not know was that Body Shop had recently gotten word that the press was about to report that it had never reached an intellectual property rights agreement with the Kayapo. The chiefs were stunned and frustrated when it became clear that Body Shop was trying to get the chiefs to legitimize the agreement, which still had not been negotiated.

Medea, on the other hand accepted that she was indeed a woman, but crossed the line of her feminine limitations set by ancient Greek times. She did this to prove she possessed more
