This document discusses demystifying the business cloud. It begins with introductions of the hosts and an overview of Huddle as a cloud collaboration company. It then addresses common questions around what the cloud is, why businesses should care about the cloud, and how to get started with the cloud. The cloud is defined as internet-based computing using shared resources provided on-demand. Migrating to the cloud can reduce costs while improving access, communication, and speed of deployment. Public, private, and virtual cloud options are outlined. The document encourages businesses to consider their problems and needs before selecting cloud services to address areas like CRM, email, marketing, billing, and collaboration.

Data modelling has been around since the mid 1970's but in many organisations there is considerable scepticism and downright distrust regarding the place dta modelling should occupy. So why does data modelling still have to be "sold" in many companies, and in others people simply don't believe it's necessary " the software package has all I need"! This paper looks at the failure of organisations to capitalise on the benefits data modelling can yield and examines where in the changing information systems landscape modelling is relevant.

Cloud Expo Silicon Valley 2013 | Why Lease When You Can Buy Your CloudMark Hinkle
Perhaps one of the perplexing things about cloud computing is the choice around renting time in someone else’s cloud (Amazon, Google, Rackspace or a myriad of others) or building your own. It’s not unlike the age-old car buyer’s dilemma, take the lower payments and lower total miles lease or buy the car and drive it for the long haul. Cloud computing users are often faced with the same conundrum. This presentation will focus on how to buy and build a cloud that can be fulfill the needs of most users including strategies for making use of the open source private cloud or managing workloads in both the private and public cloud using open source software.
Collaboration 3.0: 8 trends today that will define our tools tomorrowalexschiff
A lot of talk has been made of trends redefining the tools people use to collaborate and get things done: cloud computing, rise (and ubiquity) of mobile, consumerization of enterprise IT, etc. These aren't "predictions" anymore — they're well-accepted facts, and the opportunities to build large companies on this trend are getting smaller.
So, what's next? What will the third wave (details within) of collaboration look like? To answer that question, I turned to 18 product leaders and executives working in the field and asked, "What are the trends forming today that will redefine the tools we use to work together tomorrow?"
RightScale Webinar: September 1, 2010 – In this webinar, we discuss the basic concepts behind cloud computing, show you real applications of the cloud in production today, and explore practical information you need to get started.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Privileged user access - "Ask providers to supply specific information on the hiring and oversight of privileged administrators, and the controls over their access," Gartner says.
Regulatory compliance. Customers are ultimately responsible for the security and integrity of their own data, even when it is held by a service provider.
Data location
Data segregation. Data in the cloud is typically in a shared environment alongside data from other customers. Encryption is effective but isn't a cure-all.
Recovery. Even if you don't know where your data is, a cloud provider should tell you what will happen to your data and service in case of a disaster
Long-term viability. Ideally, your cloud computing provider will never go broke or get acquired and swallowed up by a larger company. But you must be sure your data will remain available even after such an event
Data security and company security – where is it? How safe is it?
Why not host internally?
Ask yourselves which applications you run are best suited to cloud
