About Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato is an actress and singer and is commonly known for
being on the Disney Channel in a variety of shows from a young
age. She also featured on a special episode of glee; this
highlights the type of audience she is targeted at and what types
of shows they enjoy. Also, her fans from the shows will continue
to support her through her singing career. Demi suffered from an
eating disorder at a young age and aimed to be a respectable
and good role model for her fans ever since.
“Sky Scraper”
Sky Scraper was one of Demi’s first singles and had quite an emotional
meaning.
In this video she has a very innocent look about her, she had:
• Conservative clothing
• Meaningful lyrics
• Natural Make-Up
• Naturalistic (bare feet)
Ultimately the mise-en-scene matched the audience she was targeting and
doesn’t give any bad impressions on her first music video.
“Made in the USA”
Made in the USA is a narrative and performance based music video that
focuses on a relationship with the male joining the army. This attracts a wider
audience as older people will understand the story more and may be able to
relate more than the target audience.

• Trendy/appropriate clothing
• Emotional feel towards the situation
• More grown up than Skyscraper
“Neon Lights”
Neon Lights is more party themed and about having fun rather than anything
else.
Her appearance has changed since the previous video as she has dyed her hair
bright blue- this highlights her spontaneous and exciting side which her target
audience may enjoy seeing.
• Slightly more intimate feel
• No clothing in one scene
• Bright neon make up (theme)
• Bright jewellery
She has changed her style a lot since “Made in the USA” and has a more
intimate feel to her music video.
Target audience
Through the many years of Demi Lovato’s music
career, she has managed to keep a similar fan base and
even gain a wider audience range which is shown
through her album sales. This could have been because
of her change in style as her music has stayed
similar, both slow and fast. Her target audience are
typical pop fans; for
example, females, young, impressionable, want
someone to look up to and also enjoy music they can
