The short film tells the story of Gary, a man struggling with gambling addiction who takes out a loan from a criminal organization to pay off his debts. When Gary is unable to repay the loan on time, he is kidnapped by Alexei Rascalov, the leader of the organization. Rascalov interrogates and beats Gary, blaming him for not delivering the money as promised. Rascalov then shoots Gary, leaving him to die. The film flashes back to events leading up to Gary's kidnapping and shows his regret for putting his family in danger by borrowing money from criminals.

2. We hear echoed, washed out noises of shouting,
struggling and a door slamming. It is clear that
this is the sound of a man being kidnapped.
INT. DIRTY WAREHOUSE - NIGHT
CUT IN
The camera flashes as the bag is removed from our
main character’s head in this POV shot. We are in a
dirty warehouse, with a dark blurry figure
approaching us.
DARK FIGURE
(Non-english
accent)
You know why you’re here.
Man starts to pace around in the shadows.
DARK FIGURE
(Raised voice)
You have… disappointed me. I
trusted you, and you have not
delivered what I expected.
INT. FAMILY HOME - SMALL DINING ROOM - AFTERNOON
We cut to a small family sitting at the dinner
table, in complete silence other than the clinking
of cutlery and plates.
The father starts to wipe his mouth with a napkin
and get up from the table.
Gary is interrupted by his wife asking him
something. He stops walking and pauses in the
doorway.
WIFE
Gary, I was thinking of
signing Connor up to those…
uh…
Gary’s wife clicks her fingers and pinches the
bridge of her nose, attempting to remember.
CONNOR
The Air Cadets.
WIFE
That’s it.

3. GARY
Oh, okay! I tell you what,
we’ll see how the next few
weeks go and we’ll have a
think about it.
Gary leaves the dining room and makes his way up the
stairs. He gets halfway up before his wife calls
him.
WIFE
Gary, where you going?
Gary shows a look of frustration on his face as he
makes his way up the stairs.
GARY
I’m just going on the laptop
for a bit.
WIFE
(whispering to
herself)
Gonna have to restrict the
bloody internet access for
that man one day…
Gary enters his room and opens up his laptop. He
returns to a game of online Texas Hold ‘Em poker.
We see a few close-ups of Gary’s face as he plays,
and then a shot of the screen as he goes bust and is
eliminated.
GARY
For f*ck’s sake!
Gary slams the laptop shut, and breaks the screen.
He leans back in his bed, closes his eyes and lets
out a large sigh.
INT. DIRTY WAREHOUSE - NIGHT
DARK FIGURE
So… Gary. Do you have my
money?
The camera pans around from the man in the suit to
Gary in the chair. He is beaten up, with tape over
his mouth, tied to a chair.

4. Close-up camera shot shows the tape being torn from
Gary’s mouth. He writhes in pain and lets out a
groan.
GARY
(In pain)
*coughs* Bloody hell… Where
am I…
The man comes out of the shadows, into a crack of
light, revealing his face.
A look of terror sweeps across Gary’s face as he
sees who it is.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
I have… annoyingly… had to
keep an eye on you. You would
have helped our cause a great
deal if we had received the
amount owed.
One of Rascalov’s guards hands him a pair of
scissors.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
(As he takes off
Gary’s gag and
tape around his
wrists and
ankles)
We have received 13,000
pounds from you. I would call
that commendable, if I didn’t
know how much you owed.
Rascalov crouches down to Gary’s level.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
So what have you done with
our interest Gary? Have you
not been able to gather it
up?
GARY
(shakes head in
fear)
No, no…
Rascalov puts his arm around Gary’s shoulders, and
helps him up.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
No, shhh. shush… it’s okay.
It’s okay. You have a family,
I know.

5. ALEXEI RASCALOV
Actually, I’ve never been so
happy for someone to actually
get here alive.
Rascalov shouts and throws Gary to the floor.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
(raised voice)
But I know I won’t be making
that mistake again.
Gary is kicked multiple times on the floor by
Alexei.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
People like you are the
reason people like us can’t
survive…
Gary is kicked again, multiple times.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
My father always hated liars…
and cheats… and…
Rascalov delivers the biggest kick so far.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
Gambling.
A small smile mixed with anger, pain and tiredness
sweeps across Alexei’s face.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
You’re going to see your
family now, Gary. Then and
only then will you understand
how much you have taken from
me.
Alexei pulls a pistol from the lining of his suit
jacket and loads it.
As the gun is pointed towards Gary’s head, he starts
to cry, as well as his face being covered in blood.
The gun moves down from Gary’s face to Gary’s heart
- Gary closes his eyes and scrunches his face in
fear of the shot.
We hear a single gunshot and the screen goes to
black.

6. We hear ringing in our ears getting quieter as the
screen remains black for a few seconds.
INT. DARK SMOKEY MYSTERIOUS ROOM - TIME AND DATE
UNKNOWN
FADE IN
The room is full of smoke and mirrors, with Gary
standing in the middle.
The camera rotates around Gary, he has a confused
look on his face. We hear audio clips and short
flashbacks that look at the events that lead up to
Gary’s kidnapping.
EXT. UNDER A BRIDGE - FLASHBACK - TIME AND DATE
UNKNOWN
GARY
I’m gonna have to do it… I’ve
got nothing left.
UNKNOWN CONTACT
Okay…
GARY
I’ve caused it all myself… I
just want to help my family
get out of this.
Gary’s contact rubs his chin and contemplates Gary’s
request.
UNKNOWN CONTACT
I know a guy.
We quickly flash through a few images of money
figures online, and quickly see Gary at the dinner
table again, followed by the poker incident and his
kidnapping.
We hear a distant shout of ‘Gary!’ - Gary turns his
head to the left and sees two silhouettes of a woman
and a child. The space to his left has a light blue
tinge to it, and seems pleasant.
The silhouettes fade away. Gary turns to the other
side, which has a red tinge to it. ALEXEI emerges

7. from the mist with his gun drawn, and points it at
Gary’s head.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
We both know where you’re
going Gary. You said it
yourself. I’ll see you there.
Alexei’s monologue is interrupted by shots of Gary’s
family’s possessions being taken, and a hitman
appearing at their door and drawing a gun.
We also see Alexei walking away from Gary’s body in
the warehouse as his bodyguards drag it away.
We switch between those two scenes as well as Alexei
talking to Gary in purgatory delivering his
monologue.
ALEXEI RASCALOV
We’re the same, Gary. Once
you get involved with this
side of living there’s no way
out of it. It sucks you in
like a black hole and you and
your loved ones are tied to
it for the rest of your life.
Gary closes his eyes just as he did in the
warehouse, but when he opens them again, Alexei is
gone.
We fade to a clip of Gary meeting with his contact
and saying a certain important line.
GARY
(Flashback)
I’ve caused it all myself… I
just want to help my family
get out of this.
Gary takes a step out of the frame.
CUT TO BLACK
