The area of the modern Indore city was a part of the Kampel pargana (administrative unit) during the Mughal Empire.[8] Kampel was administered by the Ujjain sarkar (government) of Malwa Subah (province). The area was controlled by the local zamindars (feudal landlords), who accepted the suzerainty of the Mughal empire. The zamindars received the title of Chaudhari, which established their claim to the land.
The modern settlement was developed by Rao Nandlal Chaudhary, the chief local Zamindar, who had an army of 2000 soldiers. Under the Mughal rule, his family enjoyed great influence and was accorded confirmatory sanads by the Emperors Aurangzeb and Farrukhsiyar, confirming their jagir (land ownership) rights.

8. Humayun’s Tomb
Built in 1569 by Humayun’s first wife, Haji Begum, this tomb is the first
ever tomb to use red sandstone at such a large scale. Located in
Nizamuddin East, this is a must visit monument!
An Interesting Fact: Its not only Humayun’s tomb, other members of the
Mughal family were also buried here, including Haji Begum herself!
10. Lodhi Garden
Spread over 90 acres of land amidst the chaos of Delhi, Lodhi Garden
houses tombs of many rulers of Afghan Dynasty. The first tomb was
built in 1444 of Mohammed Shah of Sayyed Dynasty!
11. Gurudwara
Bangla Sahib
A prominent Sikh house of Worship, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was
built to honor its association with the Eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har
Krishan. Situated near Connaught Place, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is
prominently recognizable for its majestic golden dome.
An Interesting Fact: Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was originally
Jaisinghpura Palace. Guru Har Krishan resided here in 1664.
12. National Museum
Established in 1949, The National Museum houses remnants from the
pre-historic times to the Modern History. Sporting more than 15
departments, it is one of the biggest museums in the country.
13. Nizamuddin Dargah
Visited by thousands of Muslims every week, Nizamuddin Dargah is the
Dargah of one of the most famous Sufi saints of the world, Nizamuddin
Auliya. It also houses the tombs of Poet Amir Khusro and Princess Jehan
Ara Begum!
14. Republic Day
Celebrated on 26th of January every year, Republic Day honors the
adoption of the Constitution of India putting the Government of India
Act at rest.
It marks the journey of India to being an Independent republic.

1930 that Purna Swaraj was proclaimed by the Indian National
Congress.
16. Galli Paranthe Wali
in Chandni Chowk
A cramped lane in Chandni Chowk, Galli Paranthe Wali is known to serve the best paranthas, or
stuffed Indian bread. Paranthas ranging from Matar, Paneer, Gobhi, Khoya, Kaju and Badaam are
a few that you can find here.
An Interesting Fact: The lane got its name in 1911 and still houses 3 of the original paranthe
serving shops since its inception.
