Often dance and rhythm games are seen as exergames for younger generations. What would it take to reorient such games for so-called \"gray gamers\" -- those gamers 50 years and older?
In this session Jeff Pepper, Founder and CEO of Touchtown, a company specializing in video and computer information networks for senior communities, will discuss how they designed and built a dance-pad based fitness product for the senior market. DanceTown is specifically aimed at older players and senior living communities. Unique to the design is a slick web-based system for recording a player\'s performance, tracking progress over time, and creating online connections among players. A Dancetown player (or their family or medical professional) can see at a glance how their dancing is progressing day by day, week by week and month by month. Players can also see how their scores improve on standardized fitness measurements such as the Senior Fitness Test.

It questions trends like Olympic lifting, functional movement screening, corrective exercise, stretching, barefoot running, and other popular training methods. The focus should be on practical coaching using common sense rather than following trends or methods without strong evidence of their effectiveness or applicability.
Sports in our modern world can be both an entertainment and a money-making industry. On one hand, sports provide entertainment as people play games with friends to have fun and stay fit. However, professional sports have become more focused on victory and money, with stars sometimes using drugs. Additionally, many now watch sports passively on TV instead of actively playing. So in conclusion, while sports can help people stay healthy, it has also become commercialized for profit at times.
This document discusses the benefits of sports and games. It outlines how sports and games provide physical, mental and social benefits like fitness, stress relief, health, self-confidence and teamwork. It also lists some popular individual and team sports like cricket, netball, running, basketball and chess. World Leisure Congress 2014 Nagata slidesshinichi3532
This study examined the psychological impacts of wheelchair rugby participation and cultural differences between American and Japanese players. It found that:
1) Wheelchair rugby involvement significantly improved life satisfaction, self-esteem, and athletic identity for both Americans and Japanese.
2) Americans experienced greater improvements in life satisfaction and self-esteem compared to Japanese players, possibly due to cultural differences in behavioral norms.
3) Higher life satisfaction was best predicted by greater health satisfaction, self-esteem, and financial satisfaction for both groups. Self-esteem was also impacted by country, health satisfaction, athletic identity, and financial satisfaction.
The speaker receives beautiful, luxurious clothes from Pakistan as presents but feels uncomfortable and out of place wearing them. The satin and silk tops and candy-striped glass bangles do not feel like they belong to her and cause her pain. While the clothes are exotic, wearing them makes her feel like an alien, like she is wearing a costume and is unable to truly fit in. The presents highlight her separation from her culture and make her feel unworthy and not part of her own world.

Esports Players Are Less Extroverted and Conscientious than AthletesMaciej Behnke
The worldwide status of esports as a sporting phenomenon has been developed in the past decade. However, as the esports industry has grown, it has remained an understudied scientific field. Esports is often contrasted with traditional sports regarding various aspects, including lack of physical activity and the online nature of social interactions. However, little is known whether individuals competing in esports-esports players-differ from individuals competing in traditional sports-athletes. To address this question, we examined the personality characteristics of both types of performers. We collected cross-sectional data on esports players' (n = 416) and athletes' (n = 452) personalities and performance characteristics. We found that esports players were less extroverted and conscientious than athletes. Furthermore, greater sports and esports experience was positively related to being more extroverted. Our findings contribute to the literature by documenting the preferences for competitive activities based on individuals' personality characteristics. We suggest that esports (rather than sports) might be a more suitable form of competition for less extroverted and conscientious individuals.

3) The study concluded that there were statistically significant differences in sensation seeking and anxiety between cricketers and sprinters with vision impairments. Further research on psychological profiles of disabled athletes was recommended.

Overall, the playtest helped identify issues to improve the game.
