2. My own personal definition of a British Film, is
a Film that has been produced by a production
company (both pre and post-production)
based in the UK. Whether the actors, directors
and producers are of British nationality doesn’t
matter, all that matters is that the production
team are based in Britain.
3. Other things that constitute to a film being
British are:
The cultural test
Funded by British companies
Exhibited by British film Companies
4. The cultural test is something that films and
filmmakers need to go through for their films
to be considered “British”. Afterwards it is
possible to then be funded by the BFI to make
a film.

10. Gravity is odd because it is a cast dominated by
American Hollywood actors such as Sandra Bullock
and George Clooney, yet it is still considered British.
Why is this?
The director, while not being British is a British
Citizen
All the special effects were filmed in the UK
The writer is British
The Composer is British
In the UK the film made £6’238’375
Globally it made $723’192’705

such as Simon Pegg.
