LESSON PLAN (two sessions)
1) BRAINSTORMING: environment. Students
write on the word as many words as they can
think of related to the environment. After
that, the teacher writes on the board the
following words “recycling”, “re-using” and
“reducing, erases the words that do not
connect to the topics, and asks the students to
group them into these groups. (15minutes)

3) INTRODUCTION: main terms definition for further students
autonomous work and suggestion of some videos. (5 minutes).
4) TREASURE HUNT: the teacher splits the students into three
groups of ten people and shows this web page to them:

Each group will be in charge of one topic (to recycle, to reduce or to
reuse) and will think of more ideas to reduce, recycle or re-use the
materials we usually waste in our daily life. The will search for
information during this time too. (25 minutes)

5) REAL WORLD (to start off the second lesson):
discussion of questions related to topic to put their
learning into practice. (20 minutes)

6)PREZI: each student from each group will choose a
material and will have to think of a way of reusing it,
recycling it or reducing its consumption. They will
also have to explain the benefits or the
consequences that this will cause to the world. Later,
they will have to make a common workshop and
share it on Prezi. They will have to record their
explanations for the other students to listen to and
learn them. (40 minutes and at home)

7) HOTPOTATOES: the students will be evaluated by
taking an online test on HotPotatoes (at home).

– To reuse: “to use something again”.
– To reduce: “to make less, smaller, ect”.
REAL WORLD
A) What kind of rubbish can be recycled in Spain? How can
you recycle it? What does it happen next?
B) Which ways of reusing materials can you think of? Give
examples.
C) How about reducing the waste of polluting materials?
D) How many tones of rubbish is produced in your city per
day? Per month? Per year?
E) What are the consequences of the production of rubbish on
the earth?
F) Have you heard of any country that has a better recycling
system than Spain?
G) How could we improve ours?

After that, the teacher writes on the board the following words “recycling”, “re-using” and “reducing, erases the words that do not connect to the topics, and asks the students to group them into these groups. They will also have to explain the benefits or the consequences that this will cause to the world. Later, they will have to make a common workshop and share it on Prezi. They will have to record their explanations for the other students to listen to and learn them. (40 minutes and at home)
