Conduent Inc. is a technology-led Digital Platforms and Services company. It was formed in 2017 as a divestiture from
Xerox. Project goals included improving business agility and reduction of support costs – all while ensuring the
functional equivalency of the new systems retained that of the old system.
As a result of the project, Conduent now has a more agile architecture, with increased operational efficiency of its core applications,
allowing it to better service the needs of its own clients.

Make analogies to the war on Cancer that has been stuck for decades but is finally making significant progress
We Work within the R&D Area, getting engaged with our field teams in assisting our customers with solutions to there problems.
From using our products and taking what we have done, we provide best practices and approaches in these competitive and legacy migrations. Sometimes this is enhancements to our product development.
Another key here is with this knowledge we can provide fast migration proposals with reduced cost and risk.
Using our own applications and tools we can help migrate many distributed databases to Oracle, whether that is Autonomous, Exadata or a simple Oracle Database on Linux.
If we look at mainframes we can, Migrate applications by replicating software environments on other platforms (e.g. CICS, VSAM, JCL, etc.) that are lower cost
Is non-invasive; does not require application change allowing easy move to more cost effective platforms
We offer our database in a number of ways. Lets have a look at them.
What do we want from our databases now.
Starting in Oracle Database 9i we began to introduced and matured many sophisticated automation capabilities from memory management to workload monitoring and tuning, all of which are used in the autonomous database.
The Oracle Cloud allows us to complete the journey to the autonomous database as it is the integration of our complete infrastructure automation with Oracle Database, and our fully automated data center operations. Automated data center operations include:
Provisioning, Patching, upgrading, and online
back ups Monitoring, scaling, diagnosing performance, tuning, optimizing
Testing and change management of complex applications and workloads
Automatically handling failures and errors
Autonomous Database Services deliver a number of key strategic advantages for an organization.
In line with traditional cloud base values, the business can move away from complex long term forecasting and multi-month project startup times, to an instant self-service database capability that removes the classic barrier between I.T. and Line of Business, enabling innovation at the speed of thought, rather then the speed of I.T.
Autonomous databases will solve the workforce dilemma, removing the risk associated with workforce retirement while simultaneously delivering a sea change in operational efficiency thru software automation of one of the most complex areas in running a business, data management.
Autonomous databases are delivered with a multi-layered security architecture that protects your data from hackers trying to steal it. From hardened Network design, to always encrypted data in motion and at rest, to software automation that automatically keeps the hardware’s firmware, operating systems, database software up to date with patches for all know security vulnerabilities. This is a top concern for global regulators and we’ve seen companies getting hacked, heavy fines imposed, corporate reputations damaged. Autonomous can eliminate this concern.
Ultimately, Autonomous database will reduce business costs and risk by moving to a pay-per-use business model for database applications, reducing the number of people needed specifically for database administration, reducing downtime due to operational errors avoided thru the use of A.I. and less human involvement.
Lets look at a few functions that come with the Oracle database.
With memory and ssd costs much lower these days, machines now come with vast capacities that can be utilized. One way is Database In-Memory.
By enabling this, you can get up to 10x faster analytics on the same database machine.

Main modernisation drivers are typically cost savings. However if someone is looking at a microservices target architecture, the drivers have to be more than cost savings alone.
The main driver for decoupling capabilities out of a monolith is to be able to release them independently, quicker – to increase agility to meet market demands.
It’s also difficult to drive innovation from the mainframe, as the existing systems are extremely brittle and tightly integrated + the cost to maintain the environment makes any modernisation efforts cost prohibitive.
Decreasing mainframe skills is always an issue – and moving to a cloud environment can definitely look to help with the lower level infrastructure and operational related requirements. If the customer is currently outsource (which many IBM mainframe customers are) – then moving to a cloud environment will make perfect sense
Scalability is also key – and is an obvious draw of the cloud. However, in order to really leverage the power of the cloud-based scalable infrastructure, the applications need to be optimized first. We can obviously assist there.
