1. Day 2
A: 3rd Grade Class, 12 Girls,10 Boys
S: My class of 3rd grade students will locate the 5 main oceans, know the difference of oceans
and seas by listening to a podcast, using a QR code to link them to an online quiz game, and
using Twitter to post their high scores, and respond to other students by the end of the day with
90% accuracy.
S: Media that will be used is audio (for podcast), QR code, Twitter, and computer/electronic
device to complete quiz game on oceans and continents.
U: When introducing each of these materials have clear expectations and directions.
Podcast:
1. Make sure audio is set up in classroom
2. Have world map
QR Code:
1. Make sure it links to right Web page
2. Make sure all students have access
Twitter:
1. Create Twitter page
2. Students will use hashtag “oceansgame” and tag class page in tweet
R:
Podcast: Use this as a fun introduction to all the oceans. Play it once all the way through,
then let students respond. Play it a second time stopping and talking about each ocean, and locate
each one on the map. When you play it a third time stop before it goes into the facts of each
ocean, let a student(s) locate it on the map, and see how many facts they can recite back.
QR Code: Students will scan QR code, and this will take them to an online quiz game of
the oceans and continents. They will start at the first level and work their way up. Each student
2. should reach the second level by the end of day. Also, since they have the QR code they are able
to go home and keep playing, or use it to study later on.
Twitter: I created a classroom twitter page for students to interact. While students are
working on through the game, they can post their high score or what seems to be causing them
the most trouble. To do so they will use the “@” to tag the class page, and the “#oceansgame”.
This will encourage them in a friendly competition with their classmates, and encourage them to
respond to each other with helpful tips.
E: Verbal evaluating will take place during the podcast, and when students are asked to locate
the oceans on the map. I will use Twitter to evaluate how they are doing with the quiz game.
Using Twitter I am able to go back and see what score they started with verses the score they
finished with, assessing what they learned.
